I haven't noticed many people talking about this freebie so I guess not many people know about it, and as it's a very well recorded and midi mapped set (plus I know the guy who sampled it) I thought I'd post the link:

http://www.staticfarm.com/ see top right hand side of page for link. -

Ok so it's a pretty hefty d/load and you have to register, don't say I didn't warn you!! but belive me this is the one of the best free kits out there , kingston eat your hat!!!! (sorry kingston )
Bill who made the sets is a great guy, hugely industry savvy and very informative to anyone who is genuinely intersted , in everything from software to hardware and all of the inbetweens .Oh and he's a brilliant drummer.

Also for any one that knows me here, or anyone who might be intersted, I will be moving to an organic farm on friday with no internet connection :-o
So I wont be here for a few months, I suppose I will be dropping in from time to time from an internet cafe. I was going to go the mobile phone connection way and then I thought "nah"!

I'm hoping to do some composing/tracking without interuption, although as far as I know tractors don't make for good ambient backround :hihi: depends on what effect you want I suppose :D

Thanks, and while you are there, won't you please record me some samples of rabbits? Cows and chickens have been featured on far too many songs by now - but rabbits have been discriminated against.

Sure!! I'll do my best :hihi: though in this country rabbits are considered a pest, hence the movie "Rabbit Proof Fence" (they're sooo not native to here) but I also like them as, like them I am not native to this country either!! maybe that's why they keep trying to cull me here!!!??!!! The rabbits cull you? :hihi:

Man, this kit sounds really good so far! Thanks for the tip. Haven't had a chance to fly it into Cubase and really give it a go, but this is extremely promising...might have to shell out for the 48/24 version!

Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention. Be careful around rabbits. Some of them are mean.

I downloaded this kit and tried, marginally successfully, to convert it to soundfont format. The converter gave me volume envelope settings that were unusable, but that's obviously nobody's fault but my own. I cooked up a half-baked version of the soundfont to see if it was worth the effort to really clean it up...

And it is. Throwing down a crappy few bars down on my keyboard and almost blindly throwing some compression and EQ at it (I spent all of 5 minutes in cubase for this) has yielded a useable drum sound. It seemed to respond nicely to extreme compression+distortion too (though that sort of mangled drum sound isn't something I work with frequently, so who knows how accurate that assessment is)

I can't say for sure whether or not I'm going to use this kit frequently, but it definitely sounds pretty nice, and it's waaaayyyy more than worth the (nonexistent) price you'll pay for it. I hate most (not all) of the free acoustic drumkits I've run into, but I think this one is well worth the download.

As for the details of the kit: I can't say this kit is perfect, but it's pretty nice. Individually: I am a big fan of the toms, and I think the snare and kick are solid. The cymbals are fine, and the hats leave a bit to be desired, at least to my tastes. Played as a whole, the kit sounds pretty damned nice.

By the way, as for the downloading: I was a bit confused at first, but the way I was able to download it was to register, then click "add to cart" on the free drumkit product, and then "proceed to checkout" and just sort of go along as if you were buying it, but don't give it any payment options. That should end up giving you a link to it. If there's a different/easier way, I'm sorry for leading you all astray :)

To the OP: Thanks a bunch
Everybody else: Check this out

Thank you! :)

Thanx Whoomph, registered and downloaded it. Now all I need is some freeware solution to convert it to ... (let me think what do I have ... a yes) sfz, sf2 ,ProteusX or DS404 (CM sampler) format.

btw, rabbits don't really make a noise. When happy they will emit a sort of nasal 'hmm' when bouncing around, which is fairly easy to fake by doing yourself... Think 'I am a happy rabbit', bounce around humming short 'hmm's holding an active mic, and there you have it :)

I just tried and indeed it works! Gotta stop, my ears are growing :D :D

Anyhow, on topic - any chance for an sfz mapping for the kit (or even better a sf2 version?).

IIRC pljones is the master of such things. Maybe if we ask politely ... :hihi:

I'll also pass this on, methinks that this is very probable, leave it with me though, I'll see what I can do , or if someone gets there first? :D either way an sf2 version would be helpfull for quite a few.

I'll ask MR StaticForm and see if he has a way of translating it, you never know and here's hoping too.
