WEll I got Sonar 5 PE and an edirol UA-1000 and I can say that the combination works well. The UA-25 is a scaled back UA-1000 as I recall.

that's overseas....here it ships with firewire hardware (I'm sure edirol as well), I have a UA 5, basically it's the 25 without midi....it's awesome...but how can a firewire box and Sonar 5 sell for 600 bux? I wonder if we'll get a sweet discount to upgrade?Stupid American Pig wrote:WEll I got Sonar 5 PE and an edirol UA-1000 and I can say that the combination works well. A dedicated hardware platform for Cakewalk products is very good news.
Pro Tools > Digi 002 e.t.c
Logic > Apple Hardware
Tracktion > Mackie Spike
It seems the way to go now and of course NI's KORE as well. Exciting times. Sonar is a pretty stable host already but with Cakewalk hardware shipping with it, we should see some really solid offerings from Cakewalk with a focus on their own hardware now.
The Cakewalk SPS 66 seems based on the FA -66 from Edirol / Roland. Makes sense really as Roland have an investment in Cakewalk.

In this instance yes, Firewire and USB interfaces. It looks like Cakewalk have picked two of Edirols audio interfaces to sell with Sonar. It will hopefully mean an even more stable product as I assume testing of future versions of Sonar will be done on these two hardware packages first and foremost.
