Sometimes your signal can get smelly.

Sometimes you need something to make your signal smelly..

Diodorant: It's a rectifier with a difference - you set the offset to rectify from, and the level. Then comes a waveshaper. The wave shaper is symmetrical, but the signal isn't anymore!

The display opens showing a sine wave. The diode on the left specifies the Offset (-1..0); the diode on the right alters the Rectification level; and the one in the centre controls the curve of the waveshaper. In the top right is an LED ( :D ) which will rescale the signal to fit into -1..+1.

Have a play. It's time limited to the first of February.

Since rescale will muck about with the DC offset, there is a DC blocker built in; however, altering parameters in this mode will create clicks. This is known and work is in progress.

I am considering adding an option for 2x oversampling. I would appreciate any thoughts on whether it might be needed.

If you do any presets that you think are good, mail me the fxp, and it'll probably be included in the release.

NB: the gfx are beta and subject to change. There will be further eye-candification before release :)

For a laugh, set up some automation of a few parameters at a time - it's really fun to watch...

That's it for now.

Talk to us :)

well there would be more news... but I have to much work to do - and so the graphics are not ready...

when I have more time again I'll focus on the graphics and you'll have loads of new toys :D

Fun! I expect I'll be using this one when it's released :D

Hmmm...can't get a link. Thanks though.
The armchair is more than the sum of the bastards

The link seems fine... Look at the red text where it says, "have a play" in the original post. That's your link! :D

Third Beta

Incoming (green) and outgoing (purple) waveforms shown. DCBlocker works smoothing parameter changes. Can still pop/click if you really try, but is much more rare.

There are some presets, and a small manual.

I could do with comments about the waveform - smoothness, etc. On my P3 1Ghz laptop, it's a little jerky, on my P4HT 3Ghz PC at work it's dead smooth...

Tell me about your machine and what host you most use.

Last things to do will be an oversampling option and mullys graphix.

Enjoy.

Damn, Duncan, this thing is great. I turned an acoustic guitar into roughly the sound of whacking sheet metal with it.

Working fine in Audiomulch on a P4 3GHz w/ 2GB RAM. The waveform displays seem to get sluggish when I adjust parameters, but smooth otherwise.

Excellent plug in: thank you. I really love software that utilises the strengths of the computer UI like this does and it sounds great. I'll be using this a lot.

The display of the wave stops ever so briefly when I grab one of the diodes but otherwise is as smooth as silk on my 1.6 centrino. Oh, and this is in energy xt.
