FL6 and DirectWave - Need your opinion

I'm a registered user of FL6. I have the XXL version which allows me to use DirectWave. I LOVE that program. It has saved me a ton of time and it sounds very good. Then something dawned on me while I was sampling one of my discoDSP synths (natively those synths aren't working in FL6 for me, apparently there's a bug and as a work-around I've sampled the synths that I use in DirectWave). I was wondering if DirectWave isn't a VST Ripper? Would that violate copyrights of other VSTs?
For those of you who don't know what DirectWave is, it's a sampler in FL6 (soon to be a VST) that can load a VST instrument and sample a preset and save them as WAV files. It automatically does this. I've done this manually for a few years with Reason's NN-19 and XT.
I've used FL6 a couple times live and use DirectWave as a BIG time saver between sets. The downside is the FL6 has been HORRIBLE. FL5 was solid but FL6 needs a few more months of development. It crashes the heck out of my laptop and desktop. So, I use FL6 within eXT and it's FAR more stable.
So, do you think that DirectWave is a VST-Ripper? Do you see the possible abuse?
Ciao.

It's fully legal to sample the sounds coming out of your synths for your own use, so it can't really be a VST-Ripper.
And it wouldn't be the first program to sample vsti's, Chainer does the same thing.

Oh, okay, I was just concerned that I might be doing something wrong. I see so much about this kind of thing and see how it could be abused.safeaim wrote:It's fully legal to sample the sounds coming out of your synths for your own use, so it can't really be a VST-Ripper.

Really? I have discoDSP's Vertigo, Phantom and Discovery and didn't know about Highlife thing. I'll have to look into that one.Qubit wrote:...and discodsp's own highlife sampler does exactly thesame thing

I'm reporting you to the authorities for copyright infringment.CrownRoyal wrote:For those of you who don't know what DirectWave is, it's a sampler in FL6 (soon to be a VST) that can load a VST instrument and sample a preset and save them as WAV files.
