I notice when I play back a tune I recorded, the effects are working with the settings that were set when I recorded it BUT, when I try to record now, I can't get the effects to work. When I switch and play back the recorded song again,the effects are working.
What gives?

okay, maybe...and this is just an off the cuff shot here....maybe you should at least tell us what software you're using...
