Are any of you out there using Celemony's Melodyne uno? Is it a viable alternative to Antares auto-tune? I'm needing natural sounding pitch correction software and I've been planning to "bit the bullet" and buy auto- tune, but Melodyne uno looks interesting. I would just like to hear what my brothers and sisters think. Any of you using it? What do you think?

I know of at least one person (can't claim to know a bunch... just one...) that uses it and prefers it over Autotune.
Myself, I'm getting by with the free GSnap by GVST. And while I haven't needed more detailed work yet, I imagine that you could do well with the MIDI editing of it, too.
All for the low cost of free or a small donation to GVST!
I'm not claiming it's a freeware Melodyne/Autotune- killer. I don't have enough experience with those others to really really compare. But if you're just pitching vocals occasionally or want to use it as "that effect", it's great.
Off-but-sortuv-on-topic: What I use it for, mainly, is roughing out vocal takes. I play my song back and sing nonesense or syllables, trying my best to create a melody. But since my voice is asstastic and you don't always know what your next note is going to be (making a difficult job even MORE difficult!) it can sound like crud in the end. Slap on GSnap, lock it to the right key, put your settings at very aggressive, and then play your scat vox track back through it. Instantly you recognize where your melody line could go!

Thanks Greg.
I agree that GSnap is a great plug-in. But I'm at the place where I need something that's a little beyond GSnap. That's not a slap against GSnap.
I'm concerned if Melodyne uno performs at the level it is advertised at. Auto-tune is the industry standard... with all that means. I'm not a fan of it's copy protection, but it will do the job. I'm guessing Melodyne uno will as well, but I'd like to hear from somebody that uses it.

I use Melodyne Uno and love it. It's not perfect (Rewire host integration sucks) and better used as a wave editor. But the interface and results are great! I have Autotune also and, IMO, Melodyne puts it to shame. I suggest downloading the demo and giving it a try. My guess is that you'll be impressed.

I used uno, updated to cre8. It's utterly unbelievably great. I've used antares and the powercore one in the past . . . this is nothing like that.
The integration isn't so hot, so I use it in stand-alone.
Be prepared to be amazed is right. It's the most important advance in DAW livin' for me since the UAD-1 card.

Grist for the glamour mill.
