Hey guys,

Been a long time since this thread has seen any action...but I'm happy to report that Samplebase is now alive and kicking. Check it out: http://www.samplebase.com

Lots of good stuff so far, with more titles arriving weekly.

Best,

It has been a long time indeed since this topic was current, and since things have changed with the software and the site since then I've made a few edits for which I apologise to the original posters. Comments both negative, positive, relevent and irrelevent have been cleaned out and I'm redoing the screenshots right now.

Let the discussion begin, err, again :)

Here's the full announcement text in case it drops off the main page too quickly:-
ILIO Partners With Samplebase.com To Offer Downloadable, Production-Ready Loops, Phrases, and Multi-Sampled InstrumentsAugust 21, 2007

ILIO announces the launch of Samplebase™, a new website dedicated to offering downloadable, production-ready Loops, Phrases, and Multisampled Instruments of high sonic and musical quality to "wired" musicians. ILIO is the exclusive strategic partner of Samplebase.

What separates Samplebase from other sample sites is an in-house "A&R" and production team that ensures every sound on the site meets exacting quality standards. In addition, Samplebase offers an exclusive sample-playback synth engine (designed just for Samplebase users) called Satellite™. Satellite is free of charge to Samplebase users. It contains professional features, such as automated time and pitch control with host tempo sync, syncable LFOs and effects, 16-part multitimbral operation with assignable MIDI channels, eight audio outputs, eight Quick Edit knobs for real-time control, Rex™ file support, and more. Satellite is a Mac/PC, AU/VST plug-in that works with most major host platforms. It is also available as a stand-alone application.

Fueled by an international artistic community, Samplebase features a wide variety of new sounds by well-known music industry talents such as Kaskade, Catalyst Audio, Peter DiStefano, and Def Jef, among others. It also highlights sounds produced by ILIO and the Vienna Symphonic Library, available in focused, premium, but affordable packages.

Mark Hiskey, president of ILIO states, "Samplebase provides inspiring royalty-free sounds designed by the industry's top music and sound producers, and allows users to download them on a whim. The quality of what users will find on Samplebase will exceed their expectations. Plus, the free Satellite sample-synth engine adds a whole new dimension to downloadable sounds, combining load-and-play convenience with consistently great performance features. ILIO is proud to be associated with this site."

Samplebase Project Manager Mike Babbitt comments, "With Samplebase, we've tried to eliminate the biggest problems with sample download sites, namely the inconsistent choices of formats available, and the lack of compelling material. Samplebase solves those problems with professionally produced A-list sounds perfectly programmed for our free Satellite sample-playback synth. Every sound on Samplebase can be downloaded and used to full effect in your music, quickly, without exception, with no conversion hassles."

Sounds on Samplebase are arranged into 20 to 200 megabyte sets called SoundBlocks that can be loaded directly into Satellite and used in host sequencer/DAW programs. Sound Categories include Drums/Percussion, Guitar/Bass, Keys, Synths, Soundscapes/FX, Strings, Brass/Woodwinds, Vocals, and Ethnic, providing state-of-the art ingredients for modern music production. SoundBlocks range in price from $19 to $39. Samplebase SoundBlocks and Satellite are now live and ready for download at www.samplebase.com.
