whats good.its similar to the way i use to use a keyboard with acid years ago.first of all you need a audio editor then open up your soft synth in standalone mode go to your soundcard and set it up to record from within then play your melody after that save file open up in recycle and there you go throw that melody in the dr rex or one of the samplers what do you think of this technique by the way i use arturia minimoog and arp2600 and the synth must be able to work in standalone mode

I guess that you have a couple of options then...
You could use an app like Chainer to sample the VSTis and export the sounds as soundfonts for use in the NN-XT sampler.
The other option is to create loops, with a VSTI host, that can then be rendered and edited with Recycle for use in a Dr.Rex module. FL Studio is ideal for this. It has a loop rendering feature that copies any tail FX (ie delay) that go beyond the length of the actual loop back to the beginning. BTW, the demo is also only limited to saving files. It still allows you to render loops to wav.
Personally, I rarely use live VSTis in any of my work anyway. Even though I have a fairly powerful Centrino laptop, I generally always render out the VSTi loops, of my own work, for use in Ableton Live. It's just my preferred method of working I suppose.

If I read it right (not easy without punctuation), that's what troytroy is doing now. Doesn't fit my way of working but I can see that it might be a good way to do some kinds of music.John Vulich wrote:The other option is to create loops, with a VSTI host, that can then be rendered and edited with Recycle for use in a Dr.Rex module.

Do you know what rewire is? Its not something you say I hate lol , its not a vsti or effect its a way to connect stuff together. But your advise is to for go rewire and do several steps to achieve what rewire does all by it self? Are you fking nuts or something? no wonder you have 2 posts get the fk outta here with that shite man esp when someone trys to correct you by saying rewire and you make a ass outta yourself by saying I hate rewire lol. I heard of stupid before but you get the door prize.

I hate Rewire also. I don't think his request is unreasonable (no pun intended). I do however think that your attitude is.Stairsteps wrote:Do you know what rewire is? I hate Rewrire too, so I guess you CAN say you hate it.
People should start a petition or something to make Propellerheads add VSTi support to Reason. Reason would sell like hot cakes then!

Reason sells like 'hot cakes' already though doesn't it? (apparently).
Personally I don't mind rewire & I like reasons stability & low cpu use - things that would likely diminish if it became an 'open' host.
There are a few additions i'd like to see though.
All personal opinion like though innit?

Based upon their irrational behavior, I think that the exclusion of VSTis, MIDI out and audio recording has more to do with a non-competition agreement that they probably signed with Steinberg than anything else. It's the only thing that really makes any sense. If that is the case, then all the petitioning in the world won't help matters.Ildon wrote:I hate Rewrire too, so I guess you CAN say you hate it.![]()

Besides, they've made it pretty clear that they have no intention of implementing these features. As far as I'm concerned, let them go out of business. Maybe then somebody with more common sense will buy them out and develop the product in a more logical manner.

it surely works, i mean, the troytroy method, it's just not really as good as doing it in a host, how do you get to listen to what you want to play on? doesnt it also get recorded then? what about quantizing or punching in or editing takes?

That's just plain nonesense. If they provided a VSTi wrapper, it doesn't mean that you would need to use it. The program should work exactly the same as long as you don't load a wrapper module.diverdee wrote:Personally I don't mind rewire & I like reasons stability & low cpu use - things that would likely diminish if it became an 'open' host.
