Evening all.

I'm in the market for a hardware sampler/looper/FX etc that i can rig up to my CD decks and mixer for some live sampling/looping/mangling fun.

I have seen a few units on the internet such as the Korg Kaoss pad 2 and boss SR303(i think its called) so just wondered if you good people could make me any more recommmendations to check out.

Just to prevent any confusion i'm not looking for a behemoth that might be used for sampling whole orchestras or anything like that. More of a fun but functional phrase sampler with some FX - which hopefully can be used on a signal running through the unit as well as on samples held in memory.

Bring forth the suggestions.

Cheers :)

The daddy.

The Boss SP303 is indeed possibly up your street. Bigger pads and less complex, so perhaps more suited to DJ's, drummers...

You can't use the FX on line signals tho.

Thankyou both for the suggestions.

Those electribe units are very sexy and quite powerful i know, my mate used to own the first percussion one and it was a whole lot of noise making for not a lot of cash. I wonder how functional it would be in a live sampling/mangling context though. Anyone got any experience?

As for the SP303(thanks for the correction!!) i looked at one in town today, seemed like a simple and fun litle box, certainly small enough to be convenient. There is a roland SP404 unit out now which is a step up, can have FX on line signals i think and more sampling space, features etc.

Its tough to know whats best, people swear by the Kaoss Pad range and i have to say they look like a lot of fun and the one inthe shop felt great to the touch, but the sampling is minimal to say the least.

Anyway keep the suggestiosn coming and i'll do some more research into the electribe range in the meantime.

Cheers :D

Roland VP9000. You can effect the outgoing signals, record them, pitch them, stretch/compress them, all in real time. It also has a function where you can auto sample the outputs into new files. Only has six voices, but if your djing, you shouldn't need more. They're getting really cheap. I just paid 275.00 for mine. Sample time is limited to 50 seconds, but that's plenty to play with.
Your very silence shows you agree.-Euripides
