I'm looking for the same answer as well.

Charles Dye talks about the following plugins in his articles, http://www.digidesign.com/digizine/arch ... 02/mixing/
and http://www.digidesign.com/digizine/arch ... 02/mixing/

Tube Mic Pre: DUY DaD Valve
Solid State Mic Pre: McDSP Analog Channel AC1
Tape: DUY DaD Tape, McDSP Analog Channel AC2

My main interests lies in DUY DaD Valve and DUY DaD Tape. I don't use Pro Tools or MAC. Was wondering if anyone has an alternatives for these.

How about Voxengo Warmifier or PSP VintageWarmer or ?

I saw his dvd "mix like a record" and he uses there the duy plug ins on every instrument so thats why i asked.

I'm asking the same question as you mm1985! I would think Voxengo Warmifier, Voxengo Analogflux or/and PSP VintageWarmer are possible answers.

Can anyone help to confirm or recommend others?

well i have tried a few and i think both the PSP VintageWarmer & Voxengo Analogflux( this one is free i think) ,but this one: http://www.antarestech.com/products/tube.shtml seems also as a good one.

the only thing im not sure about is: Are the
DUY DaD Valve & - DUY DaD Tape both a tape simultor or are they doing different things?

Eh? Look at their names. One is probably a Valve emulation and the other a tape emu. I've got Mr Dye's "mix it like a record" too and listening to it on the computer, trough the genelecs it shows, at least IMHO, that the DUY effects are easily recreated with Voxengo Warmifier/Lampthruster and AnalogFlux Suite's tape plugin.

Cheers!

OK for the DUYs but how about McDSP Analog Channel AC1 and AC2?

Can someone recommend VST equivalents for these?

Post

How about PSP MixPack which includes tube and tape emulation ?

I haven't seen any equivalent VST's for the McDSP Analog Channels though. :(

Peter.

If you need the plug in for voice and instrument Voxciter can also do a great job at providing some analogue warmth.

I also can recommand the PSP MixSaturator (included in the PSP MixPack). 3 different valve and tape characteristics. I even prefer it to the McDSP Analog Channel in some cases, because it's more flexible, but it doesn't make any compression, only saturation.

Vintage Warmer is imho for many quests too 'heavy'. Another, also much coloring alternative is CamelPhat.

Get TriTone Digital's ColorTone Pro and try mixing through it! 8)

I personally can't do without it. Well, I could attempt to but I'd miss the hell out of it!
