It might be a sequencer with a pattern editor though. Not sure :)

Why do you have to use a tracker for game music?

Post

If it has a piano roll... then it's not a tracker.

The whole point of a tracker is that it has the grid.

Berotracker has piano roll.

Darkwave studio might be worth a look.

It's in earlier development than the others however.

Actually, his question doesn't seem that unreasonable. Psycle and Buzz have their appeal, but the note entry is a pain. Adding a simple piano roll utility would be very helpful.

well, it's not a "real tracker"
but it has what you are looking for,
an easier "piano roll" like work-flow.
i'd say it's a tracker without numbers.

you can add oneshots wav etc.

I think Gameboy soundtracks are done with .mod and .xm files or something

just some further advice,
since gameboy was mentioned:

it is very simple,
there is a "gameboy tracker scene" out there,
people that release full albums made with
a gameboy and additional tracker software.

so, all you need is a gameboy or gameboy emulator,
and the tracker software,
then you're set and done for game style music.
simple as that
