I own ST2 and SS2, which makes already a huge soundresource.
A few days ago I ebayed a bundle with ExpT."Onmisynth" and the SonicCapsuls "Acoustic Guitar" and "Electric Guitar".
I like the IK-concept to work with a big amount of very specialized Sounds (if you look for instance at the variaty of acoustic Pianos in ST2, or Synthsounds and elements in SS2), but I don't want to fill up my HD with sounds which are exactly already there.
Therefor I wonder if the GM-Sounds of "Omnisynth" contain any Sound, that does not already exist in the ST2 or SS2 Librarie and to what extend the Sounds of the Sonic Capsuls are also already inside the Content-Libraries of St2 anf SS2.
Thanks for your help
Steffen

OmniSynth definitely doubles up sounds in a variety of SR products since it is a compilation for GM. It is there mostly for the numbering of 1-128, GM compatibility and a nice "all arounder" for a good price.
By the way, I don't know what you mean by "ebaying" but just so you know there is no such thing as buying a legit "used" copy. The license for the libraries is only for the original purchaser from an authorized dealer. Some authorized dealers DO sell on Ebay though so if you bought if from one of them then that is okay. If you bought it from an end user then they don't have the rights to transfer the license. They should have told you that if they aren't a dealer.
People who end up buying it used don't have the legal rights to use it (at least not in the country it was created in and a lot of places around the wrold). They don't have the recognition to be able to update, upgrade or crossgrade... Just providing the information since some people don't know this. Although, like I siad, for all we know you could have bought it from an authorized dealer. I hope so. If not then users CAN purchase just the license (or multiple licenses) directly from us. But, the problem is that the license is most of the value of the product (since the disc itself is not valuable but the rights to use what is on it IS to the people who create it and get paid their royalties... and since it isn't "per use" it is instead "per single sale of the product".).

Yes ST and SS were both buyed from authorized Dealers and so I am a fully registered IK-User.
Since I thought registration is just related to the installation of the IK-Software I thought there cant be any problem who ever sells me a certain content-library, because, without a registered Copy of at least a Sampletank LE, there is no chance to make use of those Libraries.
Since I am registered user of ST2XL, i thought there can't be any difference between importing any IK-Expansion-Library or importing any other Wave or Akai-Library which I also can buy at ebay and also dont have to register before use.
But OK I am not at all intrested in illegal practice, know the situation better now and wont look any more for IK-stuff from Ebay, but keep the contact to the local authorized Dealer in future.
I hope this is OK for you so far.
sincerly

Hi Squid,
Today I received the "ebayed" Libraries.
After your last reply I was quite worried about having wasted money for illegal copies, because I realy could'nt judge if the Ebay-seller was authorized or not.
So the first thing I've tested was if they were "used" that means already registered. Because you stated clear:
So here is still my first question: In order not to waste HD-Space, are there any Sounds of ST2 or SS2 which i dont need any longer after having installed the two Guitar SC's, or are the samples of the sonic capsuls totaly diffrent from the existing ST and SS-content?
Another question that came up now is, if the sound of omnisynth are already part of the ST and SS-content, I probably dont need them realy, so I didnt installed them for now. Without having neither used nor registered them am I allowed to sell them?
Greetings,
Steffen

So here the results: they were obviously not used at all. I instantly have registered the licenses of the two guitar-Libraries without any problems.Squids wrote: People who end up buying it used don't have the legal rights to use it .

There are also a lot of sounds in OmniSynth that aren't in anything else. The Capsules have one or two sounds from each in SampleTank 2.1 XL (and also a few in Sonik Synth 2... but a handful out of thousands of sounds). There really isn't much to be concerned with relatively though so I would just use it. Keep in mind within Sonik Synth those sounds are also part of combi patches where it used to make new composite sounds as well.
As for the selling of the libraries used, this can't be regulated so it really isn't allowed. Do people do it anyway? Unfortunately they do. I suppose we can shift to protecting the sounds with a USB key and make it only work for the original purchaser if we need to do it that way. I prefer to leave it flexible how it is now though. But, at least it would be a way that if it wasn't registered yet it could be resold and the new person buying it would be the ONE to be able to use it (with reassurance the previous owner does not still have a copy).
Anyway, a lot of what we do a sound company is based on just trust and hoping that people respect the license agreement and the condition upon which most sample library sound recordings are offered. It really needs to be purchased and/or sold through an authorized SR or IK dealer.
One thing we can do to try to help you is find some other sounds you may want and give you some kind of deal. For that you can talk to elijah@esoundz.com Thanks.
