chicken systems translator- converting akai disk

Hello I have a couple of akai format cds that I would like to experiment with in plain old wave format and am having a bastard of a time converting them. I took em over to a friends place who owns a copy of "chicken systems translator" and I couldn't get it to work and found the application confusing. He had it shipped free with something else I think as he had never used it before.
Am I going about this the right way?
I need some help please.
