Hi

I use SFZ for sample playing and was wondering if it can be configured so that it can be used a a drum sample player with different drums/cymbals etc on different keys on a keyboard?

Thanks

As long as you don't need to edit anything while using it, sfz could be used for just about anything, this include mute groups.

This page has several sfz mapping for free drumkits:

Like, making it so that when you trigger a closed hat sample, the open-hat will stop sounding (Kinda hard to get them both to sound on a real drumkit, right?) You can do some clever stuff along those lines with cymbal chokes, drum rolls (have a really long snare roll sample on one key, and force the snare hits to mute it... )

But yes, you can quite easily use sfz for drums. There are SFZ mappings for a lot of nice free kits around the web, and you could alternately just load up a drum soundfont.
