Golden Audio Channel--Kjaerhus

I'm looking for another option for plug-in compression, and maybe even an equalizer to boot.
I currently have PSP Master Q and Vintage Warmer.
I also have Elemental Audio's Neodynium, Eqium and Firium. I have Voxengo's Soniformer.
I figure I'm in good shape with equalizers, but I've been messing around with the Golden Audio Channel from Kjaerhus and am really liking it. I really don't need the equalizers on it, but they are so easy to use in the same VST as two compressors.
I'm tired of the Voxengo GUI, but I've been considering the Marquis Compressor or the Golden Compressor for cheaper options, but having the two equalizers with sidechain options looks great.
Anybody using GAC? The routing options are so easy? Any other options?

Love it.
The only plug used, not only in every project but almost on every track.

Funny, I was about to post about other 'trackplug' type options since my (not most recent) version has been causing crashes in Cubase, and I don't want to pay for an upgrade if there are other, better affordable options...
How is Golden Audio Channel on CPU? What are the drawbacks (if any)?

no drawbacks. easy on cpu. easy to use. possibly the most flexible digital channel strip in existance. great sound, better than awfully many respected dedicated units. a swissknife.
yeah, I'm quite fond of it.

Another fan here.
When I tried the demo I also tried the Wavearts Trackplug5 and liked GAC-1 much better. Then I was lucky enough to buy it second hand in the market place and now use it all the time. It's really golden

I have both the Wavearts stuff and Kjaerhus. The Wavearts v5 stuff is great and is most recommended. The Kjaerhus stuff is also fantastic. The Golden range is top quality bar none. When I use it, it feels like I'm using some expensive hw unit.

You can't go wrong with Torben's (Kjaerhus) plug-ins, especially the gold series. There's a huge attention to detail paid to them, and they both work and sound wonderfully. You're going to have a hard time finding people telling you not to buy this plug-in.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

Try the demo, ~I did. Very nice (though I still haven't decided).

I tried the demos. I kind of like the sidechaining options, the numerous configurations of the elements and the gate, deesser all together.
I'm also considering a combination of Hydratone and the Marquis Compressor instead of the Golden Audio Channel.

Personally, I have found the entire Kjaerhus line to be exceptional. (No dogs in this lineup.)
The Voxformer is great for acoustic guitars and vocals. WaveArts Trackplug (4/5) is another good one, and one can get a good buy on last year's model (i.e. Trackplug 4) at 50% off. Of course, there are many others.

Those are really the cream of the crop. But I've found GAC a great complement to them, as it is a completely different sound and slightly more flexible with internal routing.feyshay wrote:I'm also considering a combination of Hydratone and the Marquis Compressor instead of the Golden Audio Channel.
and gac is easier on the CPU than hydratone and marquis combined.

I am a Kjaerhus user and bought the GCO and GEQ instead of the channel strip. I didn't really evaluate it in much detail at the time but after using the plugins for many months, there are some differences if you go for the individual plugins VS the channel strip.
If you bought the individual plugins...
- You will get variable steepness for low and high pass filters (which i use a lot).
- You will get a more powerful compressor, GCO has a lot of options not available in the GAC.
However
- You won't get sidechaining, the GCO doesn't have sidechaining.
- The shelving filters on the GEQ are a lot less powerful than the GAC.
- Frequency ranges are limited on the GEQ whereas they are not limited on the GAC.
Hope these differences help you decide. I think that the most awesome Kjaerhus plugin is the GPP1 personally, nothing out there can do what it does. When it comes to EQ and compression I would also seriously look at the Sonalksis range which I find very good too.
Cheers

The absolute greatest option in GAC-1 you forgot to mention (a big whoops!) that sets it apart from just about anything: the routing flexibility.
You can achieve some amazing serial and parallel EQ and dynamics schemes (along even with the external sidechaining!) and the mid-side EQing and compression options are unparalleled.

I just picked this up last month.soundpalace wrote:I think that the most awesome Kjaerhus plugin is the GPP1 personally, nothing out there can do what it does.
BTW, great comparison on the GAC-1 vs the rest.
