I am loving Guitar rig so much. It's usability is it's selling point. It's a great set of effects. I love how easy it is to recall setups, change effects, etc. It's like an all-in-one multi effect unit. The modulations are easy and powerful. Gawd, there are so many quality character adding nuances here, as well as major sound massaging units. It nearly reminds me of Chainer or XT.

I guess the little bro would be something like LFX-1310, but would someone please make a version with someof the more hard-core processing FX? Come'on!

What would I include?
{Vocoder, filtered stereo delay with separate L+R/Cross-feedback, Convolution processor, resonator, formant filter, pitch shifter, Pulse width inducer, Ring modulator, Unison faker, Noise gate, Ducking Gate, Simple compressor, compressor with sidechain in, dynamic wave shaper, Auto pan, Modulation delay, defuser, stereo imager, SV Filter, Simple EQ, FFT EQ, Comb filter, routers/ptachbays, reverb, multi stage envelopes, envelope follower, LFOs, coffee maker}

The not-quite-little answer to your request is coming in the form of NI's Kore.

What you want it's called Reaktor. Use it within EnergyXT and you will have the biggest synth/sampler/sequencer/<insert your favorite gear here> in the world. No coffee from it, though. I still prefer my expresso machine

In the all-in one lump, what about FrettedSynth's FreeAmp SE?

Crazy talk, wrecks the picture, but does it have to all be one VST unit? LFX-1310 puts lots of equipment away. Could add Niko's Dirthead or Becker's Cortex. Add Smartelectronix Koen's KT Granulator and Smartelectronix Bram's Crazy Ivan and there's no crazy smell you can't get. You can rack em with CTAF's MultiFXVST or Seib's VSTHost + its VST bridge.

EDIT

Forgot the convolution part.

EDIT EDIT

And I guess I missed the point entirely, didn't I? You want a synth instrument lineup, not a guitar lineup?

Post

Yeah it's the interface and quickness that separates Grig from a stack of effects and XT.

I guess for all my lack of enthusiasm for Kore, it could be the work-flow improvement I've been missing

Ironic-ly, I am working on something not entirely unlike what you described, I call it FX Lord. It'll be a little while before it's done, but I think most will find it useful to say the least. :p

It doesn't have some of the stuff you mentioned, but what effects I forgot could be emulated using internal routing options.

PS In the meantime you could play with FX Jockey, which could do a dry synth good. :D

Wow I've wanted to check out that JD FX Jockey, now I will. I forgot an obvious all in one solution: Karma FX Synth.

EDIT

Just tried FX Jockey. Wow it's good. Makes my dog bark.

Ha, thanks. :) Maybe I should make a post somewhere saying all the best payware DarkWare legacy plugs are free now...

Thanks for killer FREE plugs! Novuzeit will be strong.

It'd indeed be nice if someone did an FX chainer in the style of GR, but open for VST plugins.
Of course, you can load multiple plugins in the currently available chainers and subhosts, you can also change their order quickly, but the ease of drag'n'drop and a quick visual display of what you're about to d'n'd usually isn't given. That's where GR really shines.
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

I agree, creating a drag and drop modular FX environment in a single VST would be fantastic. However, to do so using SynthEdit is a vastly complex thing to achieve, to say the least. :(

Still, I am working on something that uses a different approach to achieve much the same means.

Both Drag 'n Drop.

I think that FX Machine looks better, the GUI is great. :) I realize that "modular FX all inclusive VST" do exist, I should of clarified by saying one built completely with SynthEdit that is truly modular would be amazing, due to the internal patching involved.

What I am working on (FX Lord) is not truly modular, it is sequential but it allows mixing of each effect to compensate for this. Also, it offers a few effects that you won't find in any other mulit-FX box. And most importantly, it harbors one very powerful feature that as far as I know has never been implemented in any multi-FX unit, hard or soft... so I think that will be the main selling point.

But no, I won't say what that feature is right now for obvious reasons. ;)
