Here's an idea for a very simple way to make FLS an easier tool to use like Live, keeping the concept of linear song recorder and live arranger in mind. Wanna play a certain Generator VST/midi pattern live from a pattern but also want to keep it grouped within that pattern for linear sequencing when you burn that song?? This could be the way to do it.
For each pattern have a "+" which expands into tree-view to show all the channels in that pattern. Then have a live activate arrow (->) for each one of those channels/generators. Turn that channel pattern on-off as you see fit.
This could also be a good way to organize certain musical parts. For example, in Live your workflow is to make a column named "drums" and you put various drum clips in there and activate each one. In this FLS example you could have various drum channels/generators with various patterns in the Step Sequencer, and then expand the tree in the Playlist and activate one or more drums. Collapse that list and then say open a "Pads" pattern and repeat.
This solution isn't nearly as elegant as Live's implementation but it could be an easy way for IL to raise the bar on FLS being a "live play" app.
I'm sure someone will say "why don't you just make an indivudal pattern for each part.. you've got up to 999 patterns??".
And to that I would reply "yes, but that's a long freaking list... I'd rather have an organized drop-down to group my generator parts".
Think Gol will go for it??
