There's a new version of Vienna Soudfont Editor available here:

Anyone tried it? It's a 10 megabyte download...

right. I've always been amazed by how much Creative neglected soundfonts; they practically revoultionized home recording, and yet Vienna stuck with that crappy interface and dual-mono stereo import, etc. You'd think they would've been more on top of it.

anyone know if you even need an sb card? cos i ain't got one on my XP machine,but i do on my 98.

oh,and anyone know if it's compatible with 98? i've just tried looking on the creative site and after wading through gunk for 20mins,i gave up.couldn't see anything on google either.

It does install on Windows 98 SE.

It doesn't recognise E-mu APS cards, despite them using the same chips as the original SoundBlaster Live cards.

They always seemed like generous types...Kev Hopper (bassist) now writes music (and creates Reaktor ensembles) under the name Spoombung.

This fellow Ron Johnson in regards to stump is this him? Was it his label stump released their first album on?

Er...I strongly suspect not. Although they were a strange band, so who can be sure. Nice cover, though.

Ron Johnson Records, an obscure UK indie label in the late 80's, if you're interested.
