Hi all,
Just installed Adobe Audition 2 , everything looks great BUT I noticed in the VST Plugins folder that most of my WAVES™ plugins are missing. Then I notice the "enable DX plugins" button so I click it and Audition begins scanning, but it keeps locking up and freezing on my DX plugins now...all the following cause it too freeze
1.) PSP 608 multidelay
2.) Waves MAXBASS
3.) Waves Enigma
4.) Waves Xclick
5.) Waves Morphoder
6.) Waves Xcrackle
7.) All my GRM Tools FX
8.) loads more but Im getting bored of typing their names
Ive deleted each one in turn (Ill restore them in a minute) and Ive finally got a Direct X folder in the menu. But even though many of my plugins have now loaded, I tried out waves doppler effect first and as soon as I pressed Preview , Adobe Audition just vanished off my screen, no error message nothing. Well Ive gotta say it, Auditions/Cool Edit Pro's handling of plugins had always been pretty shitty...but this just take's the biscuit.
All the above mentioned plugs work fine in wavelab and Cubase SX so its got to be Auditions fault...Is there anything you guys can reccomend ?

I have to use cakewalks dx vst wrapper for some...I thought this problem would be fixed with 2.0, but it wasn't...maybe they'll release a patch because it really sux...

I used to have that problem with Cool Edit but I managed to solve it...
I don't know if you've tried this, but instead of pointing it to your generic VST folder, point it to your effects folder ONLY.
It's the instruments that screw it up.
At least, that's what I found.

I think v2 has improved a little - Feedbug now has a gui! Glassback makes a good point about the folder you point it at, although I would go one step further and say have a separate AA folder with only the effects that work in it. With v1.5 you also had to have all the dlls in the same folder, they couldn't be put them in sub-folders as AA wouldn't 'see' them. This may have been improved in v2, but I haven't tried it out.

I have all mine subfoldered by category - delay, reverb, compression etc etc for easy use in hosts. I can't be bothered splitting it down further into 'works' and 'doesn't work' cos it'll just get messy.Barbed Wire Kiss wrote:I think v2 has improved a little - Feedbug now has a gui! But the point you made about the old version having to have all the .dll's in one folder? It took me a while, but I pointed it to each folder in turn. That's a lot of routes but it worked and didn't mess up my folder system.
Fortunately now that's not necessary - I just point it to the effects folder. I scanned once and it all came up as it should, no problems. Anything unsupported just goes into a seperate menu which AA intuitively calls 'Unsupported'.

One of the biggest draws for me with AA is the multi-track feature. Soundforge doesn't have that and in any case, IMHO, AA's better. I can work quickly and easily with it and I like its workflow and features.Frankyboy wrote:Stick with Sony Soundforge 8.0. Mich better than Adobe Audition IMHO
It's all subjective though. I prefer AA, you prefer SF.

Sounds like they have improved the vst support a little then. Good to know.Glassback wrote:I have all mine subfoldered by category - delay, reverb, compression etc etc for easy use in hosts. jusy curious...have you tried AA2...or are just saying you have SF8 and are happy? Because they are two different things...AA is more than just an editor.Frankyboy wrote:Stick with Sony Soundforge 8.0. Mich better than Adobe Audition IMHO
Mick, I gotta try your idea one of these days,,,:)

yes, I agree upon the improved vst support, before I could not use my uad1 plugins, now they show up fine, but
did they have to include all that flamin weird noises allmost all the time, it is worse than the ones most demoes include, it buzzes and stutters like it was paid to do so, and it is paid for but not to do that.
Version 1.5 behaved fine in comparison.

I do the same thing that Mick does and haven't had any probs since. However, one thing I tried before I had a sepatate FX folder, which seemed to solve the problem as well, was to simply copy all your FX .dll files into the Audition 2 plugins folder and aim AA2 at that dir only when you refresh. Though it creates redundant files, it solves the problem. Cheers, Alex

i once downloaded a warez-ed Plugin pack that included the Waves Diamond Bundle & the GRM TOols bundle. I used Adobe Audition on a friend's computer and had the same problem that you did.
NOw, I don't use Waves or GRM, and have no problems.
You probably are innocent, but I had that exact same problem when I used the warez-ed GRM & Waves bundles.
Just slightly suspicious
