Hey all, I did some searches here/the net, but I think the hardest part was figuring out what the hell to search for... it's quite possible, maybe even probable, that something like this exists but I just failed to find it.
Anyway, what I'm looking for, is some sort of utility to help me in a specific task, that almost exclusively involves midi drum tracks, though I'm sure I could find other uses for it. Basically, some sort of vst/dx plugin that essentially 'mutes' specific midi notes, in a non destructive manner. So ideally, I could load it up on a midi track, and load up a preset that say, ignored every midi note in the track except for B2 and C2, or whatever, so that the only midi data that got played back were those notes. It seems simple enough, and seems like something that somebody would've probably cooked up, but I just have had no luck finding a tool to do that. Any help out there?

Saw something like this used in an example of a Tracktion rack filter. Take a look at this set of plugins and see if they don't do what you need.Snoogins47 wrote:Basically, some sort of vst/dx plugin that essentially 'mutes' specific midi notes, in a non destructive manner. You didn't say what DAW you're using, but in Sonar, there is a utility to split a midi track into a bunch of tracks, one for each note. I've used it when I needed to remap notes for midi drum loops. It also makes it easy to mute just the track with the data for a specific drum.Snoogins47 wrote:Hey all, I did some searches here/the net, but I think the hardest part was figuring out what the hell to search for... it's quite possible, maybe even probable, that something like this exists but I just failed to find it.

Sorry about that folks, I'm using Cubase SE, and I haven't been able to figure out a 'quick and dirty' way to do this using either the built in utilities, or the packed-in plugs. As per usual, there's a great chance I'm missing something obvious.
DaveL: Well, thanks for the link, I'm gonna download some of those just in case, because I have to imagine some of that stuff could be very useful... but the two relevant things I saw only allowed one specific note through, or a 'range' of notes. I'm going to download those, specifically the range one, and see if there's an option to make the 'range' cut out some notes in the middle (for instance, to let C and D through but not C#) but if not, my dilemma still remains.
Appreciate the help everybody, and thanks in advance for future responses
