so?
we've had voxengo pristine space for years. It's much more flexible, and cheaper. most likely a better comvolution implementation and optimisations, too.

Guess you pay that price for the impulses available.
Otherwise (while being a fine plugin) it can't be justified at all.

Although I use PristineSpace and love Voxengo's plugs, as far as I'm concerned Altiverb for XP is good news (even if it's not on top of my prioririty list) :
I've watched the demo movie and Altiverb's features are quite extensive, the GUI is superb and intuitive, plus you really have a wealth of professionnaly made impulses, especially in the real spaces area (under-represented with the available free impulses).
And it seems that even the "great" unit reverbs have been extensively sampled too, with lots of care and accuracy, which is not always the case with the impulses found on the Net.

A fair point.sirbellog wrote:you really have a wealth of professionnaly made impulses, especially in the real spaces area (under-represented with the available free impulses).

Although after getting the noisevault L960, that new L480 set, and echochamber TC VSS3 set, I've been completely satisfied with reverbs. I wouldn't mind some real spaces, but the ones I mentioned are the cream of the crop in both commercial and free.
(although wizoo verb had some killer RFID ambiences)

Well, it good to see that Audioease are expanding to PC. I think a tad expensive, and thier impulse library is a bit small, and there are different impulse techniques about. I think we have a way to go before impulse techniques become more apropriate for the use? I don't know why there is a big focus on the bigger rooms. The bigger rooms are for big audiences, but not neccesarily for good acoustics. Hardware and software impulses are not always too good on the bigger room and effects, esspecialy whith software. Voxengo and Wizzoo seem like better value for cash and more reasonably priced, though SIR is free. Clone boy? is very good value. Id agree whith Kingston that the Lexicon and TC VSS3 sets are quite good.

Yes, Nautilus and Rocket Science are both crazy - again, a bit pricey, but they sound fantastic and you can get some truly unique results combining them.aMUSEd wrote:Not bothered about Altiverb as such but I hope its a sign of things to come

I doubt it, they were probably porting to the OSX intel build and thought with some extra work it would be worth to port to XP would be half way there already too... considering they have to ditch the ALTI part of ALTIVERB, the ALTIVEC part on the G4-G5 chips... so, a recode they had to do and there you go, something new for the PC.skm80 wrote:Must be in financial trouble now and want PC users to bail their rear end otherwise they are very anti PC.
(just a hunch)
