I've just taken the plunge and bought my copy :D

So which presets do you think I should be looking at first?

Please tell me your favourites

What tips or advice would you like to offer?

Well I've only been using it for 3 weeks now and haven't gone through all the presets yet. I realy liked the two guitars acoustic preset.

For me Colossus was a 'fill in the gaps' type of purchase but has done more than that. Drums, basses, ethnic, choir and pop brass sounds were high on the list.

Next stop is to spend some time with the morphable drones and see what inspiratiom comes.

Actually I've shelled genuine readies out for this copy of Colossus.

Devon stepped in quickly and got the NFR - not me. His review is up at traxmusic.

But Colossus seems such a good idea, and so many of the sounds are first class - not just fillers, but great instruments.

Don't you lurve having great samples :hyper: :D

And what have you bought lately? Care to tell? :hail:

Real Guitar 2 is my newest toy. The strums and picks are now user editable/quantisable. Instant acoustic guitar on demand. Rather fab.

I bought Blue, but am not so fussed. It's all blue looking - I feel like Renoir in a nunnery

Princeton 2016 verb is v posh sounding ... mmmmmmm

Atmosphere still has the best string pads

I'm tempted by Octopus or maxx claster Toxic, to make up for Blue

Monsieur Conrardy's M51 Galaxy is great fun

And now ....... COLOSSUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hihi:

Hope you're well ... bags of work etc 8)

M51 galaxy .. i didn't realise Tim had another synth out .. i got cynus .. will have to investigate :D

mmm...

am very well .. and (as i've mentioned before) the original kick was an inspiration from you , among others .. it's better than i could ever had wished for :D

Colossus looks very nice indeed. I'll bet you have fun with it.

As for new toys, I just got my Tascam US-2400 last weekend. I know, something completely different but still loads of fun as well :D

The morphable drones are instant soundtracks.

They sound a bit on the dramatic side, but so sensitive and arousing when played on the modwheel ... phrrrrrr ...

Start with ...

Bluesmaster guitar: Takes a bit of getting used to, but can be very expressive.

Hawaiian strum: expressive clean elec guitar.

Jazz kit:

Rock pick bass: adds a meaty bass sound - others are a bit thin and slightly buzzy.

Orchestral strings 2 with some reverb: lovely.

Clarinet.

and on and on. Lots of expressive sounds.

Sounds which work less well:
Acoustic Piano - so-so, I much prefer my Vintaudio C7.
Classical nylon guitar (has an out-of-tune octave)

Expressiveness in spades. Enjoy it!
