So it's here at last! :)

I haven't had a chance to download the demo yet... was wondering if anyone's tried it and, if so, what they think?

Cheers

Depends on the impulse and depends on the source material...but the thing can be freaking amazing. Definitely a worthwhile tool for ITB mixers.

Cheers.

This thing sounds so freakin' good, it makes me angry. I will be $130 poorer next paycheque. Wow. :hihi: :D  :bang: :o :-o

So while we're on the subject: how exaclty is one meant to use this? Do you just slap it across your mix bus and pretend you're on a vintage console? Is that a good idea?

I guess, obviously, you can use it on individual tracks...man, I'm tempted to just go cook a whole project offline and see what that sounds like... :hihi:

This will be very handy tool to add to my arsenal. I like it on the buss when tone-shaping my final mixes.

The demo was perfect for a track in a prog rock project I'm working on, so with the intro price I could not say "no."

Placed my order this morning - now just waiting for my non-demo copy to be sent (sure hope I get it before leaving work for the day) :)

If your next paycheque is in March, you'll only be $69 poorer.

I  this thing. I use ColorTone FREE all the time. Actually, I just used it during the mastering of a remix pHz made of a Xander track...I believe the track is available as a "bonus track" on the Katrina Relief website. Give it a listen, most of the depth is thanks to colortone free.

Dammnit Tritone, why must you tempt me when I'm no longer working a regular job!? :x

Peace

:hihi:

Yes, I did. Got two emails about it. I'm on a very tight budget however since the 'Full-Time Pro-Sounds' commitment. That budget doesn't allow much at all for VST's (Not that I don't have more than enough :hihi: ) It's a heavier addiction than heroin. This plugin and SK:Note's 'Real Thing' hard/software combo is giving me the shakes. :hihi:

Peace

How would you compare Colortone to say something like Vintage Warmer.
Also, why would you want Colortone Pro in addition (or instead of Hydratone). It would seem Colortone is the same as Hydratone, but that Hydratone also has equalization options.
I'm not a big fan of Hydratone--don't like it as much as Master Q, but maybe I just need to play with it some more.

I don't know so much about colortone pro, seems like a lot of needless fuss since there's hydratone already. I know they're not exactly equal but still.

Grab that hydratone cheap while you still can. It's the best native EQ there is. Now with the SSE optimisations and working mono button (halves the CPU drain) it's very easy on the CPU as well.

As far as I can tell, Hyrdatone and VintageWarmer are saturation plugins, adding non-linear distortion/compression to the signal, whereas Colortone is adding the sonic character of actual, popular vintage/expensive gear to the signal, using convolution and black magic. :D

EDIT: Shit! sorry, I thought you meant Valvetone, sorry. :idiot: I am.

Believe me, the selection of sounds and control over it is FAR superior to Hydratone - and you would get both because one is a fully controllable EQ and another is not.

Oh well. It has proved its worth many times already.

Dude, just try it. It's a totally different beast than Hydratone.

I didn't know they'd optimized Hydratone; that's the only reason I didn't snap it up on the spot...shit, now I have to by EVERYTHING from these guys...
