I'm seriously missing strings and bass with hard / fast attacks - kind of thing you'd find in pop and house mainly I guess.
Any recommendations for samples / romplers or similar etc?

Are these sort of sounds top secret or what?
I've a feeling that some of the high end romplers can do this with stlye, but have no idea which.

It is ironic that with almost all romplers, the strings are soft legato or some shit rather than fast attacks or anything. I have the same problem, plus it goes with choirs as well.

Well, as a last resort, you can always layer some stacatto or marcatto samples with the normal long strings.

I'm no expert, but presumably if you blast into a trumpet or attack your violin strings firmly with your bow, it's going to have a very different timbre than if you played softly - it's not just a matter of volume envelope. I've tried making my own samples by chopping the attack off slow samples, but can't get the sounds I'm after.

Off the top of my head -- Dimension Pro has string patches in which the Mod Wheel controls attack time. Not sure about the brass patches though.
