I need a mirror for free samples

Hello everyone, I've been converting, tuning and mapping many of the royalty-free philharmonia orchestral samples. However, I need some decent server space to host them. I use a friends ghetto-style server as my host, but when I put the free samples up, his server got hammered to a crawl.
If anyone here has some server space to contribute, please contact me here: http://www.richtervon.com
Thanks!

They are .rar filesKriminal wrote:what format?
If you mean sampler format, just use awave or something to convert them to whatever you want. I'm hoping to get them into giga, sf2, k2, and nn-xt format.
At any rate, you can always just take the wav files and map them yourself, but of course you'll lose the tuning I did.

I would, but...ben_horwood wrote:register at sf2midi.com and post them there.
First of all, they are not just soundfont format. Second of all, sf2midi is disorganized and I am making them available as direct links from my site so that anyone can get them without the hassle of logging in somewhere and hunting for them. I also need to be able to replace and update the files as required.

How large is the sample set? How many MB or GB?

Ask Spe3d (who's running the auditorium), he might perhaps sort something out for you.
Btw, did you really convert, loop and map all those philharmonic samples, just following their numbers?!? What a freakign amount of work!
I was planning to do that myself a while ago but gave up on the task.
Fwiw, some are of questionable quality as well, such as their maximum peaks being around -20dB and the likes. Might perhaps not matter too much though.

Not all of them, only the special playing techniques. I'm not insterested in providing yet another crappy oboe sustain, I'm interested in things people don't get in commercial libraries, like brass pedal tones, weird harmonics, and so on. I have been tweaking them to remove small problems. For example, one of the trumpet pedal tones starts out too far into the attack, making an artificial cut, so I just added a tiny fade in envelope. In addition, many of the samples have considerable low frequency rumble and gunk, music stands moving or foot stomps, whatever. I have filtered these out.
Some of the instruments I plan to provide come from my own personal sampling sessions.

Oh, that's nice then!
As said, ask Spe3d (you'll find him here with that nick as well), he could perhaps sort you out with some account including FTP access.
Dunno about bandwith issues though. I could indeed imagine there'd be a lot of hits.

I have a server with a dedicated 1.4MB line - so as long as it is not gigs and gigs in size - I may be able to accomodate you. I do not get BLAZING speeds, but for free, what do you expect.
That's why I asked for the size of the total files.

If it helps - I don't want to host them - I am saving the bandwidth now at the auditorium for small sample projects by registered members and for hosting the main Auditorium audio music sections, collaboration projects and images - I am now being even more select when it comes to large sample collections.
Direct linking to free content is also something else I don't want.
However when it comes to 'exceptional sample quality kits' that could well be bigger - then I would be interested in hosting it in the sample section of the Auditorium - still no direct linking.
Yep! - gigabit lines is one of the reasons why you have been getting fast downloads at the Auditorium.
For this sample set I would take up Mikes offer (if he still wants to after getting the specs of the kits etc), size is one factor, but the bandwidth will be signficant with direct links once it kicks off, even if its only a few MB) or use bit torrent etc.
Best regards,
Spe3d

Understandable, Spe3D - I was allready wondering how you were coping with bandwidth issues.

Wouldn't torrents be a good sollution?
That way people help share it with eachother and you can keep seeding when ever you're online.
