after much research I decided to go with sonar5pe as my primary host. like cubase sx3 and will use it as needed, pt m-powered froze up to much and sonar has great synths, effects, etc. My question is, what is the purpose of adobe audition in the tools section in sonar and how do I use it in conjunction with sonar?

Evidently you have Audition on your machine (unless they include a light version with Sonar 5- I'm still on 2.2 myself). Why does it appear in the tools menu? It's a wave editor. A lot of times it's a lot easier to bring a clip into a wave editor and mangle it there than it is doing it in Sonar, and you might have options with Audition that you don't have in Sonar.
Select a track or clip and choose Audition from the tools menu. The selection will be imported into Audition. After you're done editing, close Audition; you'll be asked if you want to replace the original selection with the edited one.
