Hello,
Sorry if asking a Logic 5 (for PC) is not relevant here, but I thought I'd give it a try just in case I get some responses.
I have done a reformat of my PC and so I am now in the process of reinstalling all my software again.
I can't remember what the best option is when installing Logic 5.5.1. I get a window about File Cache Settings and I have 4 boxes:
48-64 MB RAM, 64-256 MB RAM, 256 and More MB RAM and NO CHANGE.
Now my PC has 1 GB of RAM so I guess the obvious answer is I tick the 256 and More box. But what happens if I tick the No Change Box? What is the best one to choose: 256 and More MB RAM or NO CHANGE ??
I also get another thing I have to Tick concerning DXMedia Runtime Installation. It says it is not necessary to install for Windows 2000. I run XP PRO SP 2, so do I install the DX Media thing or not?
Thanks in advance for your response(s) and sorry if the questions are banal.

The file cache thing means how much of your memory you dont mind if Logic takes up. Since you have 1 gb Id stick with the 256 option, unless youre running a few other progies wit Logic(i.e., Internet explorer, video games, Quickbooks, what have you, I hope youre not... when you run audio you should ONLY run audio!),
Als leave the DX media shitte alone, your WinXp has all that built in, you dont nee dot install it..

Why cry about your own desires, when I could have them and leave you standing in the sadness of your own....

Thanks for your very quick response Johnnytluxury, very much appreciated !! But what would happen if I chose to tick the NO CHANGE box? Or am I really better off with the 256 or More RAM?
Once again, sorry for the banal question but I would really like to know.
Thanks
