They're both great. Use them both equally. You'll soon find what instruments you prefer the sound of each on.
I like HarmoniEQ on voice and GlissEQ on acoustic guitar...
You're gonna get a lot of "whatever sounds best to you" answers here, obviously.

do you think that glissEQ would be best to use additive? I often find myself using subtractive EQ..

Subtractive eq is always better than additive. Actually, no eq (mic technique) is better than eq.
With good mic placement, most tracks will only need a highpass or lowpass. You might cut 2db at 250hz if your room is lousy. You might add 1db of 3k to a vocal just to give it added importance.
It's all good.

Me too Ron. Part of my problem is my recording room -- it's all wood and plaster.
So I kinda have to remove parts of it. And the mic I record vocals with (a Nady SCM900 condenser) has a great love for the bassier frequencies of my manly voice
Highpass @ 200hz removes the mud for that part of it. Where do you record?

Remember Gliss EQ is dynamic so you can boost hi-freq on vocals *and* de-ess at the same time.
Very clever

Well,- with gliss with the dynamic behaviour enabled - if you boost 12k it will boost 12k until the level goes above a certain level at which point it will actually reduce the amount of boost.
Obviously this depends on taste but it works very well for adding air without getting resonances too much.
Kind regards

I use Gliss with dynamics disabled for the most part, so it's just a normal EQ. Through some pretty intensive testing last year with my setup, I found Gliss to be *WAY* less cpu intensive than posifopit.
Granted, neither one uses a lot of cpu, but when you start getting one on every track and 25 or so tracks, Gliss will be considerably more efficient. Because of this, Gliss has become my EQ of choice.

I found posifohpit & glisseq fairly similar in cpu use taking into account the quality levels etc AMD X2 4400 (using 1 core in ableton live).
i.e. 5 bands of posifohpit vs. 5 bands of glisseq (no dynamic behaviour) in high quality mode.
5 instances of each - posi was 15-16%(analogue mode) & 11-12% (digital mode) & gliss 13-14%.
gliss in low quality mode & posi in digital & economy mode:
posi 7% gliss 6%.
S'pose a lot depends on your tastes etc. (which is subjective) & it's difficult to compare really, but eq's such as these i'd only ever really use in the highest quality mode anyway (& I prefer the analogue mode with posi).

All good inputs guys. Again, use them both.
Just like preamps and compressors, using different ones in a track will ensure you don't get a strange buildup of any type in there. Maybe just superstition, but I believe variety like this enhances separation and 3d sound as much as eq and mic placement.
