Hi all,

Our website have been down the last couple of days due to sudden need for new a server solution. It is now back online.

I thought I'd show a little teaser from whats coming up next from otiumFX. So here is a sneak peak of the Sonitex STX-1260 project which is currently in beta-testing.

Excrutiatingly exciting!

I'm wondering: what would one use this for, apart from the 70s drumloop-thing?

I would say it's a character thing you can use on just about everything. I mention the example of emulating the sound of a seventies break from vinyl just as a simple example because that's just something that often gets sampled in for instance Hiphop. You may want to think of it as an elaborate Lofi effect, or a vinyl simulator, or a bit manipulator.... or maybe it is better to think of it as the audio world's counterpart to the video world's film-emulating effects. These effects add film-grain and alter the tone, colour and luminance etc to give video the "feel" of film.

But I'm sure it will get used in many different ways.

I come from a musical sampling background. Often when sampling from records you get something more than the musical content itself. It may be a subtle feel, or it may be something that actually plays a defining role. This is what I refer to as "texture" and that is something I personally miss when working with midi and virtual instruments.

Well said, and I agree. Looking forward to playing with this when it's ready. Looks like another knock-out GUI as well..

This looks Great! congratulations and good luck with the release, we are updating our website now to release a few other products as well. When can we expect to see this?

Sounds cool, this is something I'm always trying to achieve using Izotope Vinyl and OhmBoyz etc - I love the concept of creating 'musical anachronisms'
