Hi,

I am experiencing major cpu spikes with AT2 in Cubase sx3 (latest update), while no other tracks are armed or in use. CPU usage is between 65-100%! I have a P4 2,66 and 1G Ram.

Somebody having the same experiences? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any reply.

Hi Jips,

I'm using AT2 in Cubase 2 with a p4 2.2 with 2Gigs of RAM, and the only time I have restrictive CPU issues are when I run on battery power (something wonky with my AC - I get hash and line noise when not running on battery). In that case, I have lots of CPU problems (dammit!)

As you may know, the hi-resolution mode is granular: you can select (if memory serves me correctly) high sample rates for overall hi-resolution mode, pre amp, amp and stomps. Setting all of them to hi-res can significantly improve the sound, but the downside is you can easily doubel your CPU usage.

Not much help I know, but...

I had the same issue but checked the manual and found a tip about disabling the oversampling options on the preferences menu while tracking and enabling them when rendering. That got me from 50% to 15% without changing anything else. And my ears can't even tell the difference.

FWIW, I run AT2 in Pro Tools 7.1 & it's very CPU intensive, low rez mode helps but it's still a CPU hog. I also have 1Gig of RAM, maybe time to add more.

Thanks. I have been fiddling with the soundcard drivers (M-audio delta 44). Had issue with the card, conflicting with the new syncrosoft dongle driver. After updating driver the dongle issue was solved. Now when I reinstalled the driver: no more crackles... at least for now. The cpu hog is indeed dependant on the preference setting of at2.

Maybe something for M-audio to look into.
