Anyone know of a simple VST or DX plugin that can listen to live music and attempt to determine the BPM, outputting midi clock accordingly?

that's a strange way to phrase the question. first off, no plugin can listen to music. second, why would you want a plugin that merely attempts to determine the bpm? plugins should't get an "a" just for effort.

Close but no cigar. It does not output midi clock for one thing..just displays the BPM on screen and so far I couldn't get it to work right.

If cant't figure out what Bpm a song goes in you should practise instead!!!

djDecks might be perfect. It crashes on my syste, but the author says he is going to try to fix it and he even said he would look into making into a VST plugin... Looks promising in any case. So far I haven't been able to find anything else. By the way, socker_smart_ass_oscar...I know how to figure out the beat of a song. The reason for a tool like this is so that when I am playing keys in my band I can quickly lay down arps and other little sequenced musical embellishments that will sync up to the band, without having to give the drummer a click track or anything. I can use tap tempo too..but its kind of a pain. It would just be a lot easier and more intuitive to have a program figuring out the beat clock for me so taht I can play my organ, play my EP's, play my moog and then trigger off arps and mini little sequenced tid bits that will embellish our band sound without having to worry about tapping the tempo to make sure its in sync.

Beat Detector VST??
