Does anyone know what the specifications are for CMusic yet, please? In particular, how many VST instruments / effects are allowed? Thanks.

Post

Well, it's been released... It's on the cover DVD for CM99. It seems to be fairly unrestricted. I loaded up five synths, each with a separate mixing desk channel, multiple audio channels, picked different channels for different audio files (and for different instances of the same file), added a third send strip... And suddenly my mixing desk was way too wide! :)

Each mixer channel can have six insert effects, any of which can be replaced by a send, linking to another mixer channel (i.e. a send strip). So you can effectively chain strips together.

There aren't slots for instruments like there were in CMuzys. I got bored adding instruments at five (shows how low my boredom threshold is, heh...).

So is this worth getting? I have been faithfully using Muzys for a couple of years now and other than the limitation on number of vsts on the synth rack, I've seen no need to use anything other than a DAW when working with vocals or remixing...what do people think?

I think it will be on the DVD every month, so you can wait until something else in CM takes your fancy - next month there's an XT synthy thing for example.....

Yeah - know what you mean. The mag itself is absolute bobbins to my mind - and Future Music is worse. It's only ever worth buying for the DVD!

how does it handle loops?any beatmatching?

Not yet. If you want to see what's coming up, head down to the MuTools forum here, sit back and watch (or rather, read through all the old threads there to see what feature requests have been raised and what the response was).
