Melodyne and Cubase SX - Rewire does'nt work

I'm currently trying to slave Melodyne 2.6 to Cubase SX 2.2 with rewire but with terrible results.

Melodyne plays the audio track (singing) with a constant lag, and the sound constantly drops out. Also, Melodyne doesn't seem to sync correctly to Cubase.

Anybody else having this problem?
