Im looking for something that could freeze a piece the incoming audio, detect the hitpints in the audio, and then travel rythmically between those points.

Is there such a thing?
Perhaps Reaktor can do it?

I do have GRM tools, and i guess i could use the Freeze effect and automating it, but it would be nice to have something more aimed for this specific task.

If there were a midi controller vst around, that could do swing mode, i could hook things up in eXT, but i havent been able to find one. Anyone?

It is called "live slice".

hey soma, long time no see. :)

i was hoping for something where i didnt have to chip in any money atm, im gonna look into live slice tho. thx for the tip.

I think 'Splitter' from Reaktor 5 instruments XT does this... If not, there then check out a few other reaktor loop slicing instruments - I'm sure there is one!

without trying the demo, i get a feeling this one is more aimed at beats, slicing the beats up and making a groove out of it. im more seeking something that could travel to various parts on the freezed audio, at various speeds. backwards as well as forward, in a more athmospheric kinda way. not aiming to regroove a beat here. :)

using the envelope tool in eXT i can control the slider ball in the GRM tools sure, but the envelope tool dont have swing mode, so im kinda stuff here. =/

im sure Reaktor have one or more patches doin what i want!
im kinda in a hurry now tho, so i dont have time to check them all out. splitter is a great tool, and i admit i havent dived in to it much, it doesnt seem to do swing, as well as the complete mangling i want however. ill play with it some more, and do some minor searchin in the reaktor patch forums. thx. :)

It's not exactly what you're talking about
but BeatMorpher VST does that with midi rhythm which you can then send
to whatever you'd like.

runagate,
im not trying to morph between to diff beats im afraid.

seems theres no other option here than to auomate the GRM tool and then audio quantize the rendered audio when im done.

ill check out some more Reaktor patches first however.

LiveSlice can act as an effect, record audio and do most things you asked for when setup correctly.
you are right, the obvious handling would be to slice beats, but the deeper you dig the more you get ;)

If you are using Buzz or FL there is a new machine that came out today that kind of does this.

Machine Description:

General Retrigger Machine. An effect that buffers incoming audio on request and then retriggers it. Has got tracker commands and envelopes to process the buffer with

I've been playing with it for the last hour, and I think I'm in

This is sort of under the genre of Granular syntesis right? I dont think it could hurt trying Audiomulch.

lucifer does this - 110% of what you ask for and a little more. make sure to check that one out if you haven't yet. :)

Im afraid i should have been clearer in my post, as it aint drumslicers, regroovers etc. im after. It is under the section granular synthesis tho, as Mr. Tunes stated.

Audiomulch could work. I cant afford any new toys atm, but im gonna give it a try.
