just mucking around and made a 'freeze' effect that grabs a single waveform and repeats it at rate.. kinda fancy on vocals at clocked rate..
currently mucking aobut with it to see if i can do anything else with it. currently, at very fast audio rates it can distort, but ~sounds like the original signal.
thinking of doing a ~stereo 'chorus' effect with it where each channel is captured at separate rates, but online now (can only do here and there) so thought i'd solicit in case anyone has any ideas they'd like me to try and institute.

Can you make it have a mode where it periodically captures and
uncaptures the audio stream at rate, like a S&H random lfo?
Just off the top of my head that sounds like it would be a good noise.
Fun to use a modwheel on.

I want a vst version of this:

It's the tracker style effects taht make it so fun.

It would really nice if there was a way to make the repeats randomly choose wich bits of the frozen audio to repeat, at clocked rate. Also, beeing able to control the speed of that clocked rate would be nice, like half way slower/faster etc.xoxos wrote:just mucking around and made a 'freeze' effect that grabs a single waveform and repeats it at rate.. kinda fancy on vocals at clocked rate..
Implent a small step seq, for even more precise control on wich bits of the frozen audio to use, and my dream comes true.

will be fiddling with technique to see if i can improve my pitch shifting/formant shifting techniques, because it's ~distortion free
gui, name concept ('ice cube something..') so sitting a while -
step sequencer - done
pitch modulation - done, with eg. +or lfo
reordering/shuffling - thought about it but all one needs to do is plop an vst of this variety directly after the wet signal and you've got the same thing, so not necessary
(mine's called 'discipline2,' i also like the smart electronix one)
atm the s&h pulse is assigned to either both channels or alternate between left and right.. if you assign lfo to s&h rate in L/R mode, with a fast lfo rate you only catch the s&h at 'harmonics' to lfo rate and end up with 'random' patterns, so covered
i *will* add dry/wet alternating step function - ta, runagate
silly, didn't occur to me, perhaps due to test audio.
soma - server down :p
thanks for contributing - occasionally seen requests for things that do this, and only noticed 'one-shot frame grabbing' discussed, never tried one, esp. commercial plugs :p

something must be wrong with my eyes or my head... xoxos' posts are intelligible to me now!

And PLZ whatever u do, if possible, add Swing mode to the step seq, clock rate etc. Thats something i miss in each and every app today.
Nice to see your making fast progress on this xoxos.

I've been thinking about the xoxos magic audio touch when I can't sleep.
I'm thinking about trying to make an effect to animate
both binaural 3D positioning and a speaker/horn physically modelled
so that you can change the size of the speaker and the "horn" like on a phonograph's bell diameter and tube length and resonating material.
I don't know why but if I dedicate the time to learn how to make an effect
I think I'd be pretty happy with making that for myself.
Oh yeah, bump.

I've been doing something similar (I think) to what you're describing using 'broken' settings on your Smokey Joe shifter. You can get it to hold chunks of very different lengths so that it usually repeats little chunks but often jumps up to audio rates (the 'umm' switch helps). This sort of thing with additional parameters affecting cycle playback (e.g. sync to tempo for choosing new cycles to operate on, playback speed, etc) would be nice. CDP does some stuff a bit like this with 'wavesets' (portion of a wave between three consecutive zero crossings) which seems quite a nice unit to work with.
