Rhino program change

When I try to change to another preset in Rhino, while it's still playing, it loops the sound for a second or so. This is normally not a big problem, but using it with Acid 6 pro gives me some problems. When using loop playback in Acid, a program change is sent every time at the start of the loop, making it go "Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" and messing up the play-cursor in Acid.
Shouldn't Rhino ignore program changes, unless they were actually changing to another preset than the current?

Even a hardware synth will reset itself when it receives a PG message; it may just be less noticable since it isn't sharing the same processer as your sequencer. I work around this by having 1 measure before a song starts and putting the PG there.

That's also how I do it. I only send program changes when Rhino is not playing. The problem is that when loop-playing in Acid, it resends the last program change at loop start. That means that every time the loop repeats i get that "brrrrrrrrr" sound.daniel wrote:Even a hardware synth will reset itself when it receives a PG message; it may just be less noticable since it isn't sharing the same processer as your sequencer. It could be avoided if Rhino didn't reset itself every time a program change is received, but only when the program change is different from the current selected program.

It could, except that... When you edit a preset, you are actually editing a copy of the original preset. If you send a program change with the same program, it is similar to a global "undo" - reverting back to the initial, stored preset.Bojo Software wrote:It could be avoided if Rhino didn't reset itself every time a program change is received, but only when the program change is different from the current selected program
This is similar to the way many hardware synths work.

Ok, I can see the logic in that.Big Tick wrote:It could, except that... When you edit a preset, you are actually editing a copy of the original preset. If you send a program change with the same program, it is similar to a global "undo" - reverting back to the initial, stored preset.
I'll see if I can convince Sony to change Acid instead. Wish me luck.

or alternatively, an option in Rhino to select the desired behaviour...

That would be great.
