Step Sequencing Midi Controllers

Are there any affordable midi controllers that have a step sequencer built into them? All of these controllers seem to be pretty useless as far as composing complete songs goes. I mean its nice to play a synth and turn knobs and all that. But I want to be able to program an actual beat or trigger samples and loop patterns with precise control.

Future Retro Mobius.
At $325, that's probably as affordable as they come. Has CV out, too, if you ever want to go analog.

I've never used one, but I assume any/all of the Korg Electribes can be used as MIDI step sequencers, too. You likely can get one for a good deal these days. Can get one new for around $250 Canadian here.

I have an electribe. I was just lokoing for ways of using the processing power of my computer to do similar things. Are there any software programs that allow you to do this sort of things. Anything in Reaktor? Liek say I have 8 sliders on my simple edirol. What If iI could setup a system where the levels of all the sliders determine the volume of a sample in the loops of an 8 step sequence. Anything like this?
I dont just want to do stepping for one plugin or synth, I want to be able to simultaneously program patterns for many different sounds from one controller.
And I dont want drum pads, because I want to be able to program the beats, not just play them out.
