What is the difference between, say, SoundFonts and Gigastudio or Halion format? There are many free SF players and SF's but the other cost many moneys. Why is this? What are the big differences and what makes it worth it?

In Giga and Halion there are more options for the samples to "respond" to human action, and so come more alive. Don't know the exact details, but the pro formats can do things that can't be done (bt default) with SoundFonts. Expressiveness is the keyword I think.
