Hi all,
I knocked this together in response to discussion here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133186
Its a little dll that lets you change the unique ID of a VST so you can load two different versions of it at the same time.
More information and huge 2k download at:
http://www.toptensoftware.com/NewID
Its not very well tested but seems to work OK (I tried a couple of plugins with a couple of hosts).
Let me know how it goes...
Regards

I'm reasonably sure that preset bank files (.fxb) won't work any more once the VST ID is changed, just to alert anyone in advance.
Neat thing, though. Might come in handy. Thanks.

Your right on that (actually fxp's as well), I should have mentioned it. Usually you would leave one version of the plugin with its original ID so you can reload banks. I thought about a little program to patch the id's stored in the fxb/fxp file but... busy trying to get next Cantabile to beta.
Actually now that I think about it, if the plugin itself has a load/save preset/bank functionality, that should work with the old fxp/fxb files - its only when the host saves/load the file that there'll be a problem.
