Hey,

I am replacing my old work dog, the TC Native Bundle, and would like some tips on what to upgrade to. I was mostly using the Compressor/De-Esser and the Sidechainer.

I need a compressor to put on the track after it's rendered, or on the master channel. And a compressor to put on single channels or busses in the mix.

Price is not an issue, as long as it's not a hefty $300-600 pricetag alá Waves :hihi:..
Seriously, 0 - $200 is ok...

Thanks!

Well I would look at the Waves Musician's Bundle II - it's about $150 or so and has the Ren Comp, Ren Vox, Ren EQ, Doubler and Supertap... great little bundle, if you can hack the dongle...

I'd go with Voxengo, they have some bundles for very good prices, and the comps are always superb.

I've heard some good things about Voxengo, any particular in mind?
Don't like their GUI:s though :)

I agree - great bundle - great plugs - great price considering what you get - add a separate verb (many to choose from) and you are in business -

linzatti - how come you don't want to use the Compressor/De-esser anymore? I know it's discontinued, but it's still my #1 track compressor (zero CPU!). I have found few compressors that act as "gear-like" as this one.

The Waves suggestion is best, although I would miss the auto-gain on the Rcomp; I find it a little thinner-sounding too. The Voxengo stuff is great quality, but pretty confusing, I'm not sold on it. How about Kjaerhus Golden Audio Channel? Great quality, more familiar interface.

Well, it's not that I am unsatisfied, it's just that I feel that I am not using any of the other bundled plugins, I bought after recomendations from a friend. And thought that if I'd sell it now I might be able to save a few extra bucks on a newer bundle. But I gotta find something that sounds better first, haven't done that yet :)

Therein lay the problem...I'd keep it, personally; it's an underrated classic and, I think, worth it for the compressor alone. I can't say I've found anything quite as satisfying as the Compressor/De-esser in all departments. The EQ's are nice, but the UI's could've been a little better thought-out. The reverb, Filtrator and Sonic Destructor (or whatever it's called) just kinda blow.

I'll let you know if I can think of a comparable effect. Did you check out the Kjaerhus stuff?

EDIT: Check out the PSP MixPack: the PSP MixPressor is an excellent compressor, with comparable features and sound to TC Compressor/De-esser. The other plugs are great, too.

Yeah, I tried Kjaerhus, but prefer MixPack If I weas to choose. The PSP Mixpressor sounds good though, and very "tweakable". And I have an overall crush on PSP Audioware stuff :hihi:

Agreed; love the PSP sound. There's something about the Kjaerhus interfaces that hold me back...but they are very well-made, no doubt.

Yeah, Kjaerhus products are well done indeed. However after owning four VST:s from PSP I kinda tend to look at their alternatives first. They feel personal and high quality in some strange way.

OT...
Am I the only one who have this weird behaviour with the TC Compressor/De-esser - it forgets that it was in sidechain mode when I load a project. :help:

Nope, I got it too. And it shall never be fixed... :(

Actually, I don't mind, because a) this is the best track compressor ever, and it works fine in that regard and b) I found its sidechain super-harsh and hard to control.

Same here ofcourse... Now with all this talk about the Compressor, I simple can't let it go... It feels like an old friend.
