I am having the same problem in Cubase - Dr. Rex in Reason i can hear in Cubase but I cant get the data to copy to a track into cubase, nor can I record into cubase...did you ever figure out how to get Dr. Rex loops into your tracks?

Cubase SX 3 and Reason 3 are my tools :)

Reason cannot transmit MIDI. You will need to export the MIDI file once you have sent it to track; see under the Files menu. Then import the MIDI file to your host sequencer. On the other hand, once you've copied the rex loop to track in Reason, it will play back in sync with the master sequencer, so unless you wanted to do editing to the rex MIDI file not available in Reason, you don't need to export the MIDI file to get synchronous playback.

Also note that rex files may be loaded directly into a track in Cubase. I believe this because I read it somewhere, but I don't use Cubase, so I can't tell you more. Please read your manual.

As for Sonar, version 5 Producer now includes a rex file player, so you can use that and stay withing Sonar altogether. Unfortunately, having not updated to S5 yet, I can't tell you about the new rex file instrument, but you should check it out if you have 5, and look into upgrading if and when you can afford to based on many other things as well.

From Cubase and Sonar and other rewire hosts, you can select one or more of Reason's instruments, and record it's midi data directly into the hosts piano roll. I don't know why you'd have to export midi then import it into Cubase or Sonar since you can record it directly there in the first place. I've done in in Sonar years ago, and I'm doing it in Cubase now. It's really easy. Just create a midi track in Cubase and choose/assign one of Reason's instruments to that track. Now you can "play" that instrument directly from Cubase. Press record and you will record the midi data into the piano roll. Edit that data the same as you would a VST instrument in Reason. It's very easy. I believe from memory that it's nearly as easy in Sonar too.

REX files can be loaded into Cubase. However if the REX file is in a ReFill, you're stuck with playing it using Reason - unless someone has written a ReFill unpacker?
