What is your favotrite software compressor?

I have Ren Comp but i don't really like it. Are there any compressor out there which are really good?

Also, what about the free one's? Are those worth trying out?

I like the compressor on LFX1310. www.luxonix.com it's freeware. Same effects as in Ravity and Purity. I also like Sonitus, too, but Sonitus is 300 bucks. :P

For pay I really like the kjaerhus compressors.

Most of my dynamics needs are met with freeware. I use the BuzComp free bundle, stereofishphones plugins, Gmax and vanilla.
I also own db audioware DX dynamic suits and what I'm looking to buy is Neodynium, simply because it can do things which are usefull to me and that no other can. In fact, if it wasn't for EAS non transferable license policy I would have bought already.
I'm also looking to get a transparent mastering limiter, inkling towards either Voxengo or Kjaerhus offering right now, but I will take my sweet time to decide and in this departement, money is no object.
No, that wasn't me.

l love Stardust by Arguru.

Buzzcomp Free bundle does most of my comp work, but Stardust for special needs.

and for some good old skool punch, Kjaerhus Classic comp.

sometimes for Bass (with a capital Bass) i will use Blockfish, from DFP.

I don't have any payware compressors, actually. I don't use enough of it to really need any more that the free ones that i mention here, and really they are very high quality anyway, free or not. :D
resistors are futile you will be simulated

I'm sure you are aware that you can purchase single tools from the Sonitus suite for as low as 39$ ? That's a lot less. The reverb in it should be very good for example.

Hi there,

I have a related question on a similar vein (apologies if this comes across as a thread hijack as it's not meant to - it just seems like it's a relevant place to put it):

I'm thinking of getting an FMR Audio RNLA (I have their RNP preamp and it's sweeet) but really I am a relative newbie at this game and still haven't worked out whether the software that's available on the market is so good that I could potentially do without ever getting any kind of hardware whatsoever.

I'm not recording anything particularly outlandish - just some standard rock and acoustic stuff - however if I'm going to do it then I'd like to do it to what I'd consider to be a good standard.

What do people think?
