Just saw on Harmony Central that GuruOne's GOMP has been released. Not sure it'll make it to KVR news, given Guru's history here.
Now I know some folk around here have less than glowing feelings for Guru (DavesMom these days I think), but whatever, this thing looks rather interesting. Presents MIDI event scripting in a fairly approachable way (if very spreadsheet, but then spreadsheets are fairly approachable given their utility). I tried the demo and generally liked what I saw.
Press release is here.

Strange interface, as far as Im concerned. To me, presenting a scripting language parser in that kind of 'spreadsheet' layout seems like someone who cant write a proper language parser, but that's probably the programmer in me. I suppose it solves context-sensitive pasring problems, but its a bit of a crude way to do it.
Its not even that much of a spreedsheet either from what Ive seen. Odd choice of UI. Oh well.

An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

Well, I think the idea being that it is supposed to make scripting accessible to those intimidated by typing, allows you to piece it together through dropdown lists. Certainly won't win the hearts of people inclined towards scripting, since the process will cumbersome, but there are already lots of ways to do MIDI scripting.
In trying the demo again and looking over the examples, a down side to the GUI is that it ultimately becomes very difficult to follow/read, since there is so much space in between each word. It could probably do with some kind of syntax highlighting/colour coding, or at least some way of visually uniting any given line of script. Also, having functions and variables together in one dropdown would likely make it difficult (at least for my eyes) to quickly piece something together, since it is all just one big jumble that you have to actively sort through.
Still, it's odd, and for that I'm inclined to like it in theory if not in practice.
