And now for the latest installment of "I was playing with a phaser-based chorus for NuBi Plus and things got out of hand ..."

Improvements :

(1) 9 stage settings from 4 to 20
(2) the LFO shift and depth controls have been replaced with somewhat more usable Low & High frequency Limit controls (providing a waaaay wider range of phase effects)
(3) Zipper noise suppression on Feedback & Output Level

NxtPhase has the now-legendary (with slight modifications) classic GUI by amoebe - but rest assured - the LED still pulsates in sync with the LFO ;)

The presets are, even now, still a work in progress, sorry ...

Right-click here/Save Target As ...

Please try this one - I think it's a keeper!

peace,
pj

is this a new version since the last thread? I just installed the second version and was loving it...now you've made it better?... :)

A phaser gun GUI for a phase effect?

So corny it's cool.

Er ah yes - it is better - and it is new to this thread - same phaser engine but much improved "range" setting controls

Thanks for checking it out Hink - BTW, have you tried NuBi LE and Spinner LE ?

very nice, just installed this version...:)

Love it!

Nice idea of having low/high knobs vs. range/center. Don't see how that makes for a wider range of phase effects though (unless these new controls also work through a wider range than previous.)

Anyway, very cool and useable. For some reason I like this phaser with fewer stages, where most others have me wishing I could add more. There's a real less-is-more thing going on in this one.

Gonna add host sync? (Just curious, I doubt I'd want synced phaser very often.) Some more LFO waveforms would be fun too... random phaser anyone? (So the Borg can't adapt their shields to your frequency!!! )

Nice work guys.

The sample code I looked at actually used the low/high limit controls but I foolishly thought I could do better. The real issue is the single parameter that "drives" the entire bank of all-pass filters. That internal parameter must remain strictly inside the range 0.0 - 1.0 so in the old version the shift control had to "adjust" the available range so the LFO would not exceed either end of this range.

Hey the fewer stages you use the less CPU it uses - win-win in my book ;)

If/when I do you know I'll post in the DSP & Development section for coding help ;)

I'm with you on this. I think the inclusion of the 4-stage was a real nice touch.

Brok Landers (in the original thread) asked for this feature and at first I dismissed it (OK, I didn't think it through) But there really is something about those two frequency notches that brings back memories ;)

Brok can also be credited with the change in range setting - he sent me a very specific example of a phaser in action and it was obvious after only a little trying that I could not duplicate what was going on in the .MP3 he sent me. Hence - NxtPhase - The Next Generation!!

thank you, pj ...
like i told you ... on vintage strings the 4 stages do wonders ...
not allways _more_ is _better_ ... :)
a real shame that i won't be able to check the new version until sunday/monday ...
but i will test and report ...
thanks again, i'm happy i could be of help somehow!

ps: really use my non-fx-ed strings i sent you to try out if you can get near to the original audiofile ... ;)
