Melodyne Alternatives, problems with their copy protection ?

Hey there guys, thinking of buying a copy of Melodyne Uno. All software I have purchased thus far uses serial / key protection (not Challenge / Response). Only Cubase has a dongle but that hasn't been too bad and is very easy to continue using on upgrade of my PC.
I was wondering...
1) Apart from autotune which uses PACE (eewwww) ... are there any viable alternatives that give similar quality output to Meldoyne ? Last time I tried Rephrase I remember the quality being quite bad. Any others ?
2) If I did go ahead and buy Melodyne, have any of you guys using it experienced difficulties with their copy protection ? Will I be able to upgrade my PC and still use it, or must I contact email support to get it re-activated every time ?
I really don't like C/R protection, but I don't think there are any good alternatives for pitch correction.
Please add your thoughts, it would be much appreciated
Cheers

Well theres the free Gsnap but probably doesn't have all of the features your looking for but works really well for simple projects. No internal sequencer though.

oh yeah, Gsnap is an incredible freebie, but yep, I'm afraid I need more of a graphical mode and since I'm a Cubase user, I don't get V-Vocal.
Any further thoughts folks ? People must be using Melodyne out there

I've got it , but I haven't changed my system since - you may be better off asking this in the melodyne forum http://www.celemony.com/phpBB2/ - the celemony support team, as far as I've observed, are on a par with the likes of Voxengo in terms of their response.
shame the latest release is being delayed dut to an iLok/PACE issue..
Regarding your pc upgrade issue - I think you'll have to contact them if you make a significant enough change to your system, but like I say, they have excellent customer support (sometimes from the inventor himself!) so you really shouldn't make your purchase hinge on this 'obstacle'.
Hope that helps!

thanks CinningBao, are they allowing authorization by iLok now too are they ?
I just don't understand why companies choose to use such a crappy crappy copy protection scheme, if this used Syncrosoft I would have bought it already.

OK After browsing through the Celemony forum, it seems that if you require a new license key for a different machine, you need to contact support and they send you a new key.
It does appear that their support is very good, I hope they don't permanently move all their products to iLok. I will email them about this before purchasing.

lol sorry but iLok ain't ever touching this PC !
Just installing the iLok driver with Autotune totally made my PC unstable, installing the Waves Diamond demo gives me blue screens of death as soon as the install tries to begin.
I think you see my point

Depends on what you need exactly. If you just need good time stretch and pitch shift (especially for entire mixes) have a look at timefactory. It has the best algos (they're also used in about every host and mastering software) and works great.
It's a bit more tedious to work with than Melodyne when you need pitch correction (ie. change individual notes) but otherwise does everything you need and is the de facto standard in the studio today (at least all studios I am working with).
Serial number "protection" only

thanks for the advice guys.
I'm afraid I'm not a Sonar fan, I've tried it like, 1000 times and it's just not intuitive to me, but it was one of the reasons I tried it so much. Am definitely keeping an eye on it though.
I'm afraid that timefactory won't do since this is mostly vocal correction I need it for, thanks for the suggestion though

Why what's the problem with AutoTune? I agree that the GUI is a piece of s#it but it works. "If it sounds right, it is right", right?
