just seen an old post(2004) reffering to midiflow. Dead link now. Alls i wanna do is convert midi notes inside live5 to others. This way I can control Arkaoss vj, its note mappings are all over the place. So like c3 to e2,c2 to whatever etc....just a simple utility mind....

Hmm I don't know what midi flow is but sounds like something
either soma or nicfit would have a solution to.
Try searching for their midi utilities on the forums here.

Live has a simple remapper built in: The MIDI Effect "Scale". It repeats the remapping for every octave, but has a transpose setting as well, so for not too complex remappings it should do. You could also chain several of them or use it in conjuction with the Pitch plugin.auto_moment wrote:just seen an old post(2004) reffering to midiflow. Dead link now. yeah i'm yet to look into that, might be 2many muliple instances for 32 remappings though...
It seems odd that there is a plethora of complex utilities synths hosts etc but i cannot find a simple vst multiple note remapper...

i'm working on a VST plugin that does basically the same kind of thing as the midi mapping in MidiOX. It has a list of MIDI filters (you can have as many as you need) which are applied to incoming midi, and you can edit each one to convert one type of message into another. it'll be done in a few days.
the first release i make of it will be a bit of a tech-y one, with the functionality there but with a bit of a boring interface. i want to try to make different types of editors for the filters so that it's easier to see what you're doing (e.g. a specialised selector for note ranges), but that stuff takes time!

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

it's still not finished, and some critical things aren't in it yet (e.g. saving/loading!) but basic remapping of midi data (so far cc/note) is possible. i thought i'd release this mid-dev version for a laugh as i have an exam in a couple of hours and would like to see some suggestions when i get back to cheer me up (as it's going to go very badly!)
MidiMapper v0.3alpha

things that aren't yet implemented but will be
- save/load of settings (with project + to file)
- swap data values (e.g. note number->control VALUE)
- more message types
- hide panels when no filter selected
- copy original message to output alongside response
- generate no output for a given input message
- hopefully a 'wizard' for generating filters in different ways
the filters are processed in order from top to bottom
