Hi!

I'd like to hear opinions from experienced ears about the sound quality of this new EQ. I'm
always searchin for new high quality, low CPU EQs (there are almost none but some of the Urs) and this one is very efficient and has a very cool GUI.

Judging by the superb quality of the Sonic Flavours verb, im most curious on this EQ as well.

I have the demo and I've only used it briefly. My first impressions are that it is good but not way ahead of some of the other reasonably priced EQ's like Kjaerhus GEQ-7, Christian Budde's Electri-Q, and WWAYM's NWEQ Pro (which is an amazing $40).

I didn't find DEQ7 to be particularly intense in its "analog" flavor---more just a very useable general EQ.

BS ? No way. A very good eq, good sound, good interface, low on CPU. Good price; could be cheaper, though. Tempted here...

... I love the GUI this thing. And the sound is very good too. However I don't feel it adds a lot compared to the Kjaehus GEQ7, which I already own. If I was currently looking for a good allround EQ, this thing would be very tempting.

Yeah - what's up with the hostility? Are Sonic Flavours bad people? they don't use dongles or anything... :shrug:

I thought it was a pretty good EQ. Sonically it reminds me of Waves EQ; very clean, a little cold. The interface was good, I thought; unique and a bit of an improvement on the pukey-yellow/shallow dial/red-dot interface of the R66 Reverb. Definitely good for the surgical-types. Not sold, though.

Actually, their delay looks promising - but that pukey interface is back, though...

I tend to listen to any eq that comes out as I think this is a WEAK area in software.

I found it awkward to set-up the banwidth with the spline (?) tool - other than that I found it to be on par with the competition - at the price point.

I still yearn for something like the Sony Oxford EQ which is only available for a PoCo - IMO it stands head and shoulders above anything I have heard.

I stopped using the Kjaehus eq as the top end does not sound pleasant when boosted (IMO) - this is a problem with most software eq's I have listerned to.

Yeah, Sony Oxford rules; equally good, if not better, are the ISON series for Scope IMO (also much cheaper). Native, only PLParEQ is on par IMO, but vastly different sounding, and too high on CPU.

However, this here is a good one also, CPU use is ridiculously low :-).

Here's a word from one of the guys at Sonic Flavours. It's great that some of you guys really like our DQ7 equalizer. Of course we ourselves love the gui and the sound but let's not talk about that. Some remarks made me wonder a little. The DQ7 sounds very clean, I agree, but cold? In what way does it sound cold? And another question would be: please define coldness when it comes to EQ-ing. It's not that I would want to critise anyones opinion, of course not, but we are always eager to learn from users. Maybe we all could benefit from such a discussion. 8)

Actually, I apologize for that, Greg. This morning, as I A/B your EQ with a whole bunch of other precision EQ's, I cannot say that this sounds cold; in fact it has a gentler-sounding boost than some more expensive plug-ins. Comparing now, I could hardly tell the difference between this and PSP Neon, for instance, an EQ I really like. Someone just recently accused one of my favourite EQ's of being "cold", and I felt the same. I think probably what we're saying when we say "cold" is that it doesn't seem to impart the smooth character we expect from gear; accurate, but just that, resulting in a very "digital" mix. I find the older Waves EQ's like this, for instance. I simply don't use them anymore.

I think we're getting hit with a lot of EQ options, and expectations are running high; and I shouldn't have posted those comments that late at night, with tired head and ears. I quite like this EQ. The only thing that was bothering me today is that with an EQ like this, with a large graph display, I want to be able to grab the node and sweep without having to switch to the top Filter Head to sweep; it makes quick tests more difficult. And I wanted to be able to bypass the EQ band by clicking on its name in the Filer Head.

So, sorry about that. Good EQ!

Not come across those - where do you get them?

Are they linear phase or parametric?
