COMING SOON! Neve 1073 EQ

AU
VST
RTAS

Originally designed by Neve in 1970, the Neve 1073 channel module is derived from revered Neve consoles such as the 8014. The 1073 is famous for adding otherwise unattainable sheen and clarity to music tracks. Modeling the 3-band EQ and high-pass filter with painstaking detail and thoroughness, Universal Audio's Neve 1073 EQ delivers the same sonic experience of its analog cousin with exacting detail. At no extra charge, the 1073 EQ includes a DSP optimized 1073SE EQ for high instance counts.
The Neve 1073/SE EQ is a fixed 12kHz high shelving EQ, a six frequency (7.2k, 4.8k, 3.2k, 1.6k, .7k, .36k) parametric EQ, a four frequency (220, 110, 60 and 35 Hz) low shelving EQ, and a four frequency high pass filter. Other features include a 30 dB range of gain control, plus phase reverse and EQ bypass

And I want to add here that it sounds pretty damn good too.

Cheers!

And they have the 1081 EQ and 33609J compressor coming further down the line.

Maybe I haven't looked hard enough but any idea on how many instances you get per card?

Post

how would you characterize it and/or does it make sense to get it if one has the pulteq/cambridge already?
aka rktic. demoscener (Farbrausch, Holon, MFX, Still), sound designer, ux-dude, sth @AudioRealism, human synthesizer—not necessarily in that order.

Another reason for me to save up for a UAD-1.. ugh.

Another reason for me to hate you UAD-1 owners. :x :P

Not many! About three, apparently...

You can only run three instances of an EQ?

Post

I heard four.

Yeah bduff, but don't forget it's not running an EQ algorthym, it's running a complete physical model of the hardware circuits and how they behave, so it has a much heavier processor footprint...

Right, too bad. You'd think you'd be able to run more off dedicated DSP. Thing is, you can run, like 20+ inserts of URS EQ's and still be at around 20% CPU...wonder if it's worth it?

Post

Isn't one of them URS ones based on this too - how do they compare?

Post

I don't think the Neve one is out yet.

In the meantime, back to fondling the knobbage on me Fairchild... :D

URS N Series is one of the best sounding eq plugins I have ever heard. I don't know how the real Neve thing sounds but the URS emulation is full of character. UA has to be better in order to atract people considering the limitations (UAD only and proccessing power).
