Hay all, just wondering if any one can recommend a freeze like device..

I just want to add it to the drums and other instruments to create a stutter like effect, it would be nice if I could vary the buffer aswell.. Don't need any fancy pitch shifting or any thing, just a Freeze that repeats until I tell it not to..

If your familiar with an ancient plug in called "GRM Freeze" then you'l know what I'm after, just wanna to that Trent Rezna displaced kinda sound...

Any ideas..

Cheerz...

Yeah I've looked at a rather good thread and pretty much downloaded everything there was on the list, nothing I like... The only two that came close wwere "Phutboy Slim" and "Memory".. But to be honest, they were rather far from sample accurate it seemed...

Is this due to a VST Limitaiton, am I just gonna have to manually cut and splice?

What is Sandh? Was that on the list! http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... sc&start=0

Huh yeah, just tryed it, that and all the other freeze plug ins on that site... Nah just not doing what I wan't... Seriousely if I could just find some thing like Phutboy Slim with a bit more accuracy and higher resolution I would me happy aarrgg!!!

sandh captures an 'audio rate' wavecycle and repeats it at it's base frequency.. the demo mp3 ~demonstrates it effectively :p

the only thing it doesn't do in terms of 'freezing' audio is capturing a wavecycle and holding it indefinately, because it's clock driven.. tho atm it perhaps can be 'faked' by using slow clock rate..

this would be easy to make if that's what you're trying to do.

here.. listen to this..

you tell me if that isn't freezing audio as you wish to do.

if there's another way to freeze audio that isn't wavecycle apprehension or window apprehension, eg. buffer override et c... then ????

sandh is 'harmonically related time interval,' b.o. et c. is 'non-harmonically related time interval..' ...what else exists?? :p :)

Yeah I'm talking more on the side of buffer override most definately, as I said Phat Boy Slim did it well and Memory was alright, just not quick enough on the mark it seemed though..... Performance wise could possibly be my computer, I am trying these plugins out on an exstensively stressed project....

Absolutely excellent, exactly what I was after! This is good... It would be nice to have the option of disableing tempo thougg, but overwise this is gonna work perfectly! Cheerz!!

my plugin 'muchacho' (note - there is also a muchacha' plugin.. they're not the same..) has a 'buffer override' implementation with probability based step sequencer - most of the plugs i did at this time have a 'non-host-synced clock' option, tho one of them didn't :p

can't remember if it was this one or not....

xoxos, I was having a damned lot of fun using some of your fx last night =)

aside from power, muchacha, muchacho, ordinate and sandh the greatest thing I came up with was this, which I played with in celebration of finally getting everything re-setup for live music playing after reformatting:

automidiCC (to kick midi CC envelopes out to animate wah)
pling (for guitary sound)
phasic env follower
ring mod (animated by midi CC, also)
evex electro vox exciter
syng (animated the vowels with slow lfo)
free amp 1.5

Then about a trillion rhythm tracks with sandh and the like of glitchy fun.

Huh cool... Yeah gonnna take another good look at 'muchacho' and 'sandh' sum time.. Got me a midi-controller as welll and am wanting to really get into more live.... :) Thanx again for the advice, I gotta say being able to talk to the creator directly is very cool!

Cheerz..
