An updated version of SPAN FFT spectrum analyzer is available now for download. This update fixes "Reset" button issue. This issue prevented some visual mode selectors from resetting properly when the "Reset" button was pressed.

Wow, here's an idea Aleksey. Rip the VU-meter off Marquis, make it K-compatible and release it as a free VU-meter plugin.

Same here (I love Span's slope control!). InspectorXL has a lot of features but I use it mostly as a K-system meter - I find the colored bar-graphs very convenient. If Span had something similar I would probably retire InspectorXL for good - well, I think I'll eventually retire it anyway because this whole Roger Nichols story sucks big time... and Aleksey rules!MrM wrote:I have Inspector Free, Inspector XL and Span, I must admitt I like Span the most!

I'm not implementing bargraph spectrums because they can't be used for multi-channel spectrum overlaying (they get messy). However, I'll think about adding bar-graphs as an option (for single-spectrum views only, of course). VU-meters are also planned for implementation - in the same 4-level look as in Marquis.
BTW, do anyone find 4-level meters useful? I've just have not received even a single feedback on those meters while they are pretty 'new' on pro audio scene as far as I know.

4-level meters are useful, especially in Marquis. Maybe a bit more distinguished colouring would be in order? How do you plan to implement it in Span? You only need average RMS, peak RMS, and usual digital peak meter, all K compatible, of course. What's fourth?

I meant 4-level meters, not peak, RMS, peak RMS, etc. Each level of the meter uses different averaging time.

well, peak, RMS and peak RMS have different averaging time. What's different in your 4-level implementation? I'm not very familiar with Marquis' VU-meter. Doesn't it show K values+peak? Maybe it shows crest factor, too? - that's very very useful as non of IXL plugins shows it. You can "figure" it visually, though, by subtracting average RMS from the peak value, but numbers are nice to look at, or nicely coloured meters, for that matter .

The additional transient information provided by the 4-level meters is very useful. Would be great to have those meters in SPAN (which is my go-to plugin for spectrum analysis, btw). Any chance for a phase scope in SPAN or a separate twin-brother plug (PHAN)? Having a phase scope that would paint using your 4-level meter reads, now that would be wicked!
